But it shines a light at how ignorant he and some white people are to racism if he thinks it could never happen there just because its diverse. I'm sure if his friend told another friend of color what he experienced they would say it was just another Wednesday. Right. I definitely see your point with that. I guess I just don't see the point in dragging him over this? Like, Sam Smith is probably not the problem standing in the way of racial equality. But making him feel like **** for stating he was appalled with witnessing racism, well, that could make him NOT want to voice his opinion on the matter in the future. As a gay male, I still fight to be accepted and to be treated equal, and I would rather someone stick up for me or be on my side (even if they might be a little ignorant to how we feel and what we go through) than to just shut up and let it happen. So instead of pushing away a potential supporter (because in any fight for equality you need people of both sides), why not be a little nicer with the approach and educate him on how bad racism really IS in his beloved London? If he's on your side and wants to support equality, then it's something he should know. I mean I guess one could argue, "if he really cared he would know", but that's not the point. Turn him into a supporter instead of a non-supporter.

Not speaking to you directly, just in general. It's like everyone is so on edge in regards to any kind of "social justice", but degrading someone who isn't a part of the problem is a waste of time and energy and might be more off putting to potential supporters. Thus, making the progression slow.
