Aprox $2,000,000 outside of the us

I think star wars has a FAIR shot at the domestic gross of avatar, I mean it will AT LEAST reach 600M

However, the Global fandom could make the numbers frontloaded, I don't think Star Wars can do 2billion outiside the US but I could be wrong

Overseas, assume it has better legs than Jurassic World (315-1016) due to Holiday season so it does the same number without China (~280-1000). Add ~250 millions (being generous here). Around 2 billions at most. How the heck some of you still think it could overtake Avatar???

I agree with this. I can see it pushing past the $2 billion mark but to get all the way to Avatar is insanely difficult. Jurassic World + $1 billion would still come up short.

It already tripled Avatar's US opening weekend in less than 3 days time.

Remember that huge debuts dont translate well into longevity. It wont do as well overseas in the long run either.

And don't forget that Avatar was an original movie. The technology used was also a breakthrough. Star Wars is just average - a good adventure flick. Everything about it s familiar, perhaps because it's a New Hope remixed with its best bits.

Avatar had legs because people experienced something new. The new star wars has nothing like that.

Nothing is coming to theaters anytime soon that poses any type of threat or competition. I see this movie having longevity. Only time will tell but I'm betting on it besting Avatar.

I don't feel that we can really apply standard movie logic to this particular release, though - it's a different beast. Star Wars is unpredictable and dynamic as a franchise.
