Also #8 biggest Friday gross, #14 biggest Saturday gross, and #13 biggest Sunday gross! 12th biggest opening day gross of all time and 10th biggest opening weekend of all time!
Already #380 on all-time biggest grosses in the U.S.

Shrek the Third only beat
Toy Story 3 for biggest animated opening by a little over 12 million. That's not a big difference. You have to consider that this is Father's Day weekend, meaning that not as many people went, as they already made other plans, such as camping, fishing, hiking, partying, bbqing, etc. Also, I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but I overheard some people saying that it wasn't going to be as good because "you just don't wait 11 years to release a sequel and expect it to be good." Their words, not mine. If many people had that opinion, then that could've made it lose that 12 mill compared to
Shrek which only had a 3 year difference.
. But hopefully I could watch it by the end of the month in 3D!
