Even if you don't know the history of blackface, it's common sense that using someone'e skin colour (and don't a poor job at it) as a costume is insensitive.

Benefit of the doubt: she is a dumb sheltered white girl who doesn't watch TV or read books and who had no clue that this was offensive. But it still doesn't make it any better.

And there are also many naive White People that have recently migrated to the USA and they dont know the History of Blackface as well. I say this because some experience I had. I went to a party a few years ago and I saw someone with a Blackface. He was dressed as Kanye West. He was a latino teenager. I decided to approach and talked to him and asked him if he knew the history of Blackface and that if some African Americans will see this they will be really angry about this. He was clueless and say he was just imitating Kanye West that he did not know of such history. He said that there was nothing malicious of his custom since he is a big fan of Kanye West. Well at least he is aware of this now. But there should have not been any death threats, bullying or urging him to commit suicide over something that a naive young person can just be educated about.

I learned about it from being on the internet and watching movies and tv. Something all American kids do.

I mean I didn't know the history of racism towards Asians when I was in high school but I knew better than to paint my skin yellow just to be one for Halloween.

It's not hard to believe that some people don't understand the concept of using skin color is inappropriate. The whole idea of Halloween when you dress as somebody is to embody them, from their personality, clothing, hair, and yea skin is a part of their identity too. Only recently we've started spreading the idea of using somebody's clothes if they're tied to a culture is wrong.

Idk sometimes I wish that if it wasn't done with malicious intent and it's done in a tasteful manner it shouldn't matter if they use somebody's hair style or makeup but with the history we have it'd not really possible for some groups. Plus her ousfit is poorly done and she didn't put any effort into looking like Nicki besides going heavy on the spray paint
