My sentiments exactly but I'm just going to wait and hope for the next single to be absolute fire and that they actually get back to her basic instinct by releasing the smashes.

I'm slayed.
The best single of the year to me so far. The music, the lyrics, Luda's parts.
One of her best work, as good as "Oh", maybe even slightly better.
Can see it as a huge hit or a huge flop though.

i don't see why it is always a problem
whenever she has collaborations
it doesn't make her song any less good
so i don't see the big deal...

I just don't understand why her and her label keep releasing weak ****, I just don't It's a nice song but a terrible first single and the most frustrating thing about it will be that majority of the songs on the album will probably **** on this like what happened with the last album and the singles that were released.
|
well i was hoping this would be a crossover
song because i hate when singles get split
up and when one goes to one format then
the next goes to another format because it's
super unecessary since all ciara needs is a
song that can crossover on both formats at
once like how the entire "goodies" era was...
i don't see why she has to separate her formats
and i still think there might be a chance that
"ride" becomes a pop hit too so people should
wait before saying it's only for urban or R&B,
because people said the same about "oh" and
"promise" and they did pretty good on pop stations...
i hope you're wrong because that's
exactly what jive should be worried about
and TBH,ciara doesn't need to worry about
earning her spot on urban radio because
"never ever" was a top 10 hit....it isn't like
she has trouble getting a hit there or is
doing badly on that format....she's doing
just fine on urban, what she really needs
to earn back is pop radio because LSM
was her only pop single since 2006 with
"get up" and that sort of struggled on radio...

But my fear comes out of the fact that I remember them strategizing for Fantasy Ride as well. There was a whole fuss about Never Ever appealing to a certain audience and we saw what happened with that.

AGREED!! that's why i hope it wasn't jive's intention
for "ride" to only be an urban hit because that makes
no sense to limit her to only one format at a time
like that because that would only be repeating
what they did with NE and LSM....

yeah well i think "ride" has way more potential
to do well on pop unlike NE so i really really hope
it's going to be for both formats instead of just urban

But if "Ride" underperforms she may not get a promoted second single. I don't even know why I'm worrying about it though, my complaining won't change what Jive wants to do. I hope you're right.

ciara did lose her spot on urban a little bit.. idk how u dont see that, but anyway
you just said she has no problem with urban. so why not
put more emphasis on that and have a better outcome instead of
trying to appeal to a market where she can have a top 10 with major promo
and still not have amazing sales.

well even if she lost her spot on
urban a little bit,NE was still a top 10
hit so they don't have to restore her core
audience that much....for pop it's different
because she hasn't been releasing pop
songs as often as urban songs and LSM
was her only pop song in 4 years so if
anything needs to be more restored it's pop radio
since LSM struggled on that format way more
than NE struggled on urban.....
but i don't think they should put more emphasis
on any specific format....like boneslive said, that
is overthinking things way too much....i think it
would be way better if they put emphasis on radio
in general and songs that can do well on both formats
at the same time like what happened with "goodies"
and what could have happened with FR if they released
"work" or "pucker up" or "tell me what your name is"...

"Never Ever" & "Ride" are totally different types of songs.
The best thing about "Ride" is, it actually is strong single for SOME format, being Urban and Rhythmic, her core formats. "Fantasy Ride" is where they TRIED to appeal to all the formats, and it didn't work because she wasn't fully satisfying the markets that will support her even when the fickle CHR doesn't.

Feeling it more now...but unfortunately, i think that Fantasy Ride was amazing, and this is like that, and i dont think it will do well. She needs something more catchy, and upbeat to make sure people buy her album, THEN she could release this, once people realize shes back.

UM, her album sold 80k first week, so clearly a core needs to be restored.
Urban radio would NOT play "Pucker Up", "Work" is iffy OVERALL, and "Tell Me What Your Name Is" is the definition of great song that's NOT a first single. It's 2010, and Pop radio and Urban radio just DON'T clash that well right now, it's extremely hard to have a multi-format single right now and Urban radio has NEVER left Ciara's side. She will sell good as long as she smashes on some format before the album is released.

& I won't stop, don't stop.
Get it! Get it!
Imma pitch down the middle
Baby hit it! hit it!
I do it tonight
Handle my business, like a big girl should
1 o'clock, 2 o'clock
3 o'clock, 4....
5 o'clock, 6 o'clock
Baby give me more.
Pick me up, pick me up.
You are my Ducati, I'm all up your frame
Baby say my name.

I agree
I not too fond off sending one song to urban and the another to pop eithers
I love Ride but I tink another song should have bee first single

The song itself is enjoyable, but a tad weak for "first single" material.

well i don't think ciara has a core format
because in the "goodies" era,her singles were
hits on urban and rhythmic and pop all at the
same time......it only changed because of TE
and because of songs like "promise" and
"like a boy" and CLHA but that was only
for one era....

there were loads of reasons why
it sold that like most of the songs leaking
way before the release date and bad promotion
and bad choices for singles.....
the only core that needed to be restored is
radio in general, both urban and pop radio
"work" would have been a super huge hit
if it was released and even people who
don't even like ciara even said so and i
don't think "tell me what your name is"
would have been the best choice for a
first single but i was saying that it is just
a song that would have done really good
on pop radio and rhythmic radio....you
are probably right about urban not playing
"pucker up" though

OMG,I LOOOVE THAT GIF!!!
she looks so sexy
i love the lyrics in ludacris verse when he
raps about ciara
" With a rack like that and a back like that
Cici better see see me"
it would be funny if ludacris had a crush on her
in real life...IMO,they would make a super cute couple

Oh I definitely think a catchy upbeat track is need before the album release but that is exactly what is going to happen! That's why I don't think the chart performance of this will matter THAT much since there will be that as a back-up in case things dont go according to plan

the beat was stuck in my head all day. the song is catchy. it sounds like a #1 r&b hit to me, but radio is so weird right now so i dunno. oh well
