I hope other artists can follow her track
It's not because I'm her stan, but because what she said is true
some artists gave too much discount for her singles or albums, let their music be streamed like air, like music has no value
and this paragraph
Quote:
These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant child. These are the echoed sentiments of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so much.*We simply do not respect this particular call.

Lmao at people calling Taylor money hungry when Apple is the one who is money hungry...that's the point here
This is why I support Tidal, I know I can trust its owners

Here are my thoughts on this...
1) This was a very well-written letter and I agreed with many of her points.
2) What she has to realize is that Apple is asking for these three months for free with the intent of paying artists more afterwards. If I was asked to give up part of my revenue for three months (because, just like artists, I have various forms of revenue), with the promise that I would receive a RAISE after those three month and earn more money in the long-run, I would do it.
3) If she is going to make a statement, make a statement. Don't say that you are unhappy with the way Apple is handling things, yet still have 90% of your discography available on the service.
4) Why should Apple be the only one fronting the cost? Record labels are receiving just as much out of this free trial as Apple is, so maybe the record labels should give up their portion of the royalties for three months and Apple can only pay the portion that goes to artists, songwriters, producers, etc.
Taylor is making valid points, but she isn't 100% informed and she isn't trying to come up with solutions.

I find it bizarre that apple wouldn't compensate the artists for the first three months... they surely have enough money.

I'd ask how can that be when you're currently earning no revenue from Apple for a program that doesn't exist, so how will 3 more months of that hurt you financially when the reward post-September will be greater than the $0 you make now?
|
I don't think they are claiming that it will destroy them, it's about the fact that Apple is using the artists as selfish promo.

Bitch, your album costs $12.99 USD. DEATH @ you comparing your music to an iPhone. I'm done.

That point went right over your head.

She is on point for this and I am happy she is speaking out.

Well, they're not the same thing. She's signed to an independent label, and she's not signed to the majors. How can she speak against the other labels when she has no experience with them? She's speaking out against this because it is a universal outcome, 3 months - no pay will be the reality for every musician on Apple Music.

No, honey. They have a way of limiting people from creating new accounts: by not allowing the same credit card to be used for a free trial a second time. That's what Spotify does.

I can tell you that this is a lie, I've made like 7 accounts using one card and they're none the wiser.
I think Apple are using Touch ID for it.

It's basically confirmed right there that this is only for the first 3 months that Apple Music is up the free 3 month is available. Why do you think Apple isn't paying them for these 3 months?... If the 3 month thing was always available then they wouldn't have a valid reason to not be paying them the first 3 months. Not my fault you can put two and two together.
Yes, and after those first 3 months end Apple will no longer be handing out 3 month trials. They may decide to do 1 week or 1 month trials, but otherwise, it's not happening for 3 months anymore.
People can't create another Facebook account?
The 3 month trial isn't gonna be available after the first 3 months because there's always ways to get around it. I mean, we can bookmark this, and revisit if you don't agree and want to be right so much.

who cares if her older albums are on it. point is 1989 is the current blockbuster everyone wants to listen to and it would be a big incentive to use the service.

She is amazing.
I love how she was aware of what people had been saying about her before and mentioned it being false.

Luckily I bought 1989 on iTunes so I'll just use Apple Music to listen.

Cause these are the exact same reasons Jay left spotify and created Tidal. And y'all dragged him (still do) for it.

Spotify pays for their freemium service though. So it's not the same case.

Honey, firstly, stop saying ******** without any confirmation. Every streaming service does a free trial accordingly to when a person joins. And there's another way of stop people from circumventing the system: by linking it to your Facebook or something.
Like Spotify is a place where you can not only listen to music, but see what your facebook friends are listening to, Apple Music is gonna be like that. That prevents people from creating account after account after account, cause then you wouldn't be able to connect to your facebook or else they would know it was the same account. I know there will be some losers who don't care about that, but most people like the social aspect of this, and it works for their benefit.
|
Then you can just make another Facebook account for it. I've never seen someone actually use the Facebook part of Spotify, and I doubt that's a dealbreaker for the vast majority of people.

I’m sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free 3 month trial to anyone who signs up for the service. I’m not sure you know that Apple Music will not be paying writers, producers, or artists for those three months.
She confirmed by saying 'those three months' that it is temporary. What are you comprehending differently from those sentences. Let me know.
