The digital era has only been around a few years while people use to get up and go to the stores to buy someone's single or album.
I still put Kim or Missy as the most successful.

Lil Kim had way bigger impact than Foxy Brown. So I don't even know why people trying it.
Lil Kim has done it all tbh. Her and Missy overall has the biggest impact and most successful, Now of course Nicki Minaj is successful and is up there success wise. But impact? meh she'll def have it. But I wouldn't know what her impact is the way Kim and Missy did it

Music is Music... You just said that we shouldn't use the Back then vs. Now comparison, and I mention that people are still buying albums (ex: Adele, Taylor), and you're acting like no one post 2000s hasn't sold more than 1,000,000 units.
Hip-Hop was/is the best selling contemporary genre of this generation, and you're not making any sense when people in the Hip-Hop community actually buy albums. It's not our fault Nicki doesn't have the album sales impact, so don't try to use that back in the day crap.

But you're using that "back in the day" crap tho.
No other female rapper is selling today like Nicki is, and that's a fact, which is why I said bringing up sales for an influential discussion is pretty pointless.

It's the fact that Nicki was able to make herself a brand. The perfumes, the clothing line (right?), the touring, movie roles and all that stuff. She definitely has more success than all the other female rappers overall.

I never used that to get Nicki over Lil' Kim. I pointed that out, because you guys tend to use that excuse, but if you take a look at certain albums back in the day, then you'll notice that not all went diamond and 8xPlatinum. Several albums (Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop) went 1xPlatinum or 2xPlatinum, and this is when music was Popular at a time and where everyone was selling.
Nowadays you do have artists like an Adele, Taylor, or even Hip-Hop's most successful act Eminem sell millions of units in the digital era, so it's not impossible like you were making it out to be.
You have to give Lil' Kim her props for having 3 Platinum albums, a successful visual style that inspired the likes of Nicki Minaj and others, But you Nicki fans stay riding on them digital sales to make her seem larger than life, but when someone says '' Nicki has sold 50 million records'' and 95% of the records sales are from $1.29 singles, then you know you got a problem.

To be fair, there are a lot of popular rap acts still going platinum these days & definitely in 2012

Queen Latifah; A woman who's thrived in movie roles, Her OWN talk show, Massive make-up endorsements alongside and extensive list of credentials in numerous fields, Eve; Had her Ruff Ryder clothing line & also thrived on the big screen, M.I.A. who was the face and creative designer of Versace, Literally just thought of these off the top of the head.
Many femcee's Including Kim have ventured in numerous other fields and have built their brand & empire.

The others never had to jump on every track and rely on features to stay in the 'limelight', Quite a shame just how much one relies on them. Guess it truly is common knowledge that one's music holds no weight and require 6+burn out singles to sell their product (and poorly do so)

The music industry has declined by 3x
Piracy is a huge problem now
you cannot compare album sales in the 90s to now it just doesn't work that way
or else we can compare record sales and starships sold 8m records alone, adding superbass and nicki just destroys the competition

Sweetheart, the music industry has been declining since before you were out of your mom's uterus. Go sit somewhere.
