Top 50 Singles:
#20. Jerimih - Imma Star (Everywhere We Are)
I'd write a proper 'write-up', but there's a good 95% chance that NONE of you remember this song. Jerimih's REAL hit is later on in the list, so I'll save my write up for then.
#19. Ginuwine - Last Chance
Ginuwine's comeback came and went pretty quickly but hot before I discovered this gem, the lead single "Last chance". As a lead single, "Last Chance" didn't make any waves outside of the R&B charts, but I really liked this song. The Bryan-Micheal Cox midtempo had a throw-back feel to it, and was just straight R&B, no autotune or anything; that's what I appreciated about the song. Don't get started on that FAILED attempt of a second single, "Get Involved"...
#18. Beyonce - Ego
"Ego" makes Sasha's fourth and final appearance on my Top 50 singles charts! "Ego" was one of my favorite singles from the "I Am...Sasha Fierce" era. This soulful midtempo was subjected to MANY repeat plays on my bootleg mp3 player (I have a Ipod now, people!). A lot of people didn't care for "Ego", but I did!
#17.Wale - Chillin (feat. Lady Gaga)
I LOVE that Wale came out and said he was forced to put Lady GaGa on the track for radio spins...it was obvious from jump! Anyways, "Chillin" was a nice single for the summer, and pretty much got the album released. Lady GaGa was a nice feature artist for the hook, and generated a lot of interest in the track, so she served a purpose! I hope "Pretty Girls" takes off early next year (even though it was released....a while ago.)
#16.Tynisha Keli - Shatter'd
While you guys were sitting, waiting for Jojo to get her label situation, another soulful white girl came along and snatched her wigmy HEART! I refuse to give her a promotional piece in my "Best Of" thread, but.....this song is amazing. This was actual a single in Japan, but I. REALLY. didn't. care. This is the PopR&B crossover smash that your FAVES (my LeToya included) wish they could have on their album, and at radio.Secretly, I KNOW Beyonce would have murdered the track. You mad? Listen directly below.
#21. Whitney Houston - Million Dollar Bill Sorry Bart! Whitney Legendston Houston MISSES the Top 20 with her comeback single, "Million Dollar Bill". Initially, I was disappointed by "Million Dollar Bill" for the usual reasons, her voice has diminished, dated sound, not a mainstream R&B single...ect. After I got over my bias and gave it a second listen, I realized that this is as CLOSE to vintage Whitney as we're going to get, and I can take that. The song itself is a catchy, soulful jam and was nice enough for her comeback single. She needs to put out "Call You Tonight" and "Salute" and MY LIFE WILL BE COMPLETE!
But for it being here at all! And danke for number 23 too! (STOP READING MY MIND. :spoileralert
