I don't know any of these albums! That's why I haven't commented. But I bet you won't know any of mine!

I say it every year, but Ryan have you ever considered writing for a music magazine or something? Dude, your writeups are reallllly good, and your #1 choice even better. I have the last Muse cd, but I'm guessin I should get this one!

OK sir, come on over to my thread, as I have finally started it.
BUT ANYWAY. What an epic albums list. No surprise at #1, but your write-ups are just stunning. Really draws me into what you're writing about and makes me feel like I should appreciate it even if I haven't heard it!

For the most part, I agree with you on Muse... except for their first single, haha. Then again, they're not my number one (shocker, I know). In general, despite me not being very familiar with most of the albums, I like seeing the stuff I did know. I just would not put Green Day so high, haha. As it seems everyone has been saying this, great write-ups!

The 2009 YECA: Top 100 Singles of 2009 (100-91)
Finally (and I do mean finally), we reach one of the two big countdowns of this year's YECA, and, USUALLY, the big one of the YECA: The Top Singles of 2009. However, 50 is just not good enough for such a big year. I'm going all out with ONE HUNDRED SINGLES. I can't promise that the writeups for the top 100 will be that great, considering that I'm doing 100 of them, but I'll try my best to make them all great.
Okay, enough talking. Let's get to the real meat and stuffing of the YECA already.
[B]The top 100 kicks off with a song that, I will readily admit, was one of my least favorites off of "Death Magnetic". Then again, considering that Death Magnetic was my #1 album of 2008, clearly, it wasn't a bad song. As a matter of fact, the breakdown in this song is fantastic. I also love the driving force of the sound here, and James Hetfield's voice is at its condescending best.

This, of course, is not the only Eminem song on the top 100, but it's also only one of two, a pretty rare thing for me, unless we're talking about Encore-era Eminem. The reason that this song made it to the top 100 is how distinct the song sounds, when compared to most of Relapse. It is its own beast, and there's no song quite like it in Eminem's discography. In this case, that is a good thing.

So, with Oasis breaking up (and, this time, it looks pretty permanent), is it safe to say that this is the last chance Oasis has of making my singles list? At least it paid off, if only barely. I love the dreamy sounds here, and also really love the vocals here, too. This song was much, much higher on this top 100 earlier in the year, but time and perspective have moved this song down quite a bit. No, this had nothing to do with Oasis breaking up.

I will probably regret putting this song so low in the coming years. I love the organ in this song so, so much. It fits in so well with Jack White's commanding and rhythmic vocals. However, if you listen to this song, keep in mind that Jack White singing here is not the norm in The Dead Weather. Don't expect this when you listen to Horehound, as fun as it is.

I bet this will shock a lot of people. It may even shock me. It's not that I don't love this song. I do. But listen to Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da for me, and listen to the songs around it. Now, tell me that this song isn't weak in comparison to the songs around it. That's what happened. "*****" is still a fun ride, but it's a fun ride that has been done before.

Here's another one that I will probably regret putting so low. In this case, I feel like this song peaked with me for too short of a time for me to consider putting it high. That, and I don't care for it *that* much anymore. But I always have my moments when this song comes back to me, and I love it just as much as I did the first time I listened to it.

Probably one of the most surprising YECA Singles entries in quite some time, this really is one of the more beautiful and intriguing tunes that I never thought I would love. Then again, though, Neko Case is so universal and lovely that I'm not shocked that I like this song as much as I do. Just...trust me on this. Seek this song out.

"AW, ****!" This song didn't quite have the same impact on me as "Jizz in My Pants" did, but it's a FUNNIER song, I would argue. It makes fun of the rap genre so viciously and brutally, and T-Pain's involvement in this song makes it legendary. "I'm on a boat, mother****er, don't you ever forget!"

This will go down as one of the lost opportunities of the year. Not in my case, but in the case of Alternative radio. Here's the closest anyone has ever sounded to being Radiohead on crystal meth, and the radio SHUNNED THIS SONG. Yeah, it's definitely a Radiohead clone, hence why it's so low, but very few could pull off such an incredible Radiohead impersonation.

I don't know if I'm going to regret this song being so low, but I will say that I am almost 110% positive that this song will have a "Lazy Eye"-like impact on me after a while. It took three years for me to realize that "Lazy Eye" really is that damn good, and I think that I'll have a similar epiphany in 2012. Probably my favorite Pickups vocals, too.
100-91 is up. Thank god. Next up will be 90-81, which *should* be up later today. There will be a huge mixed bag of songs everyone knows, songs very few people know, and one of the biggest music stars going today. Have fun guessing who that star is.

Great start!
I love Em, Oasis, Dead Weather, Neko Case (!), Lonely Island (I'd argue, like all of Incredibad, that "I'm On A Boat" is a very loving parody of a genre they know very well).
you're killing it, Ryan!

I'm on a Boat! Look at me I'm on a Boat!!! Honestly, that song is possibly one of the best things Andy Samberg has ever made for SNL.
