Even if the first single did flame out - that is well over 50% of the previous buyers that have opted out this time around.
|
That 200k was on the back of a monster hit and a monster promo tour including an AI and oprah performance.
65k without even a moderate hit single and no promo is amazing.

i may have read wrong but they are changing alot. I read that even if an album sells 500k it won't debut at number one if an album already has a higher total even if it's been out for months and has lower sales than that album that specific week.

OMG KRIS AND 50
Norah is looking a bit low.
Poor LeLe.
I think Janet will sell 50K+ after the interview and AMAs--she has had no promotion other than radio interviews so far.

Effective with the 2010 chart year, which begins with the charts that will be refreshed on billboard.com Thursday, Nov. 26 (print issue dated Dec. 5), the Billboard 200 will shift from a currents-based ranking of the weekly top-selling albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, to an all-inclusive list of the top 200-selling albums, regardless of release date.

^^ Still it doesn't say that it will show totals, it's just saying that it will show what sold regardless of the date it was released, cause it wasn't allowed to do so in the 200, If an album was old (and some other rules would apply here as well) it would only be allowed to chart in The Catalog, now it says it doesn't matter the album is old, it will still chart in the BB 200, that's what they say.
Read the full article, they emphasize the chart will remain a weekly-chart!

I think that the only way they'll cancel AI is if the show starts to flop. TV doesn't give **** about what's going to happen to the contestants after the finale.

yes, and that means it will include older albums which atm are only eligable to chart in teh catalog chart. It does NOT mean that it will have a chart based on total sales.
Do you really think Billboard would be that stupid?

^ Yes, We do!
Because you are misinterpretating the article. Or you wait until the chart to be released on November 25 that will show you the facts!

I'm more amused that millions of people will still flock to the try-outs. Haven't they seen how badly these new crop of Idols have flopped?

I knew Kris was gonna flop, but I was hoping at least 100k. And I'm also surprised with Leona's flop.
Both, Kris and Leona, don't deserve to flop, their albums are amazing!

Eh, no!
65k is not good.
Don't make excuses.
Chrissette did >100k meanwhile many people don't know who she is, and don't know what her single is, and Ephiphany didn't do as well as Happy.
