I remember him saying rock n roll by Avril souls be the biggest hit and look at how that turned out.

It's not like he knows if a song is going to be big or not. He's just sharing his opinion. Plus, Rock N Roll does sound like a huge hit but there was 0 promotion for it.
Jeff very rarely says whether or not he thinks a song will be a hit — he usually just says whether or not he likes it. I think people often mistakenly equate him liking a song with him saying it'll be a hit.
