Whew Let It Burn... She better write a sing about my wig burning off my head. The "Ready or Not" sample The belting near the end.
I thought it sampled "Anytime Anyplace"
But OMFG so excited to see her at #3 on iTunes with just the buzz of GOOD music and word of mouth. Queen. I really hope this album doesn't flop and do less than 40K
RCA really dropped the ball with booking promo spots. Jazmine S can SANG, and she needs to showcase those vocals.
Also, they're leaning towards Mascara as the next single (good song, not the best single), but I think If You Dare would be PERFECT and give her a hit.

Honestly, in an alternate universe where her label cared and actually promoted her, to me this seems like it has the absolutely perfect kind of Somebody I Used To Know potential crossover hit. Not in the sense that it would be anywhere as big as that, but just in the sense of it being incredibly catchy yet having that originality and...weirdness (compared with the rest of the manufactured pop) for it to stand out and become a genuine hit.
I'm more into the second half of the album (Forever Don't Last, Stupid Girl, Stanley, Masterpiece & If You Dare). They're all amazing, especially Stupid Girl. I also really like Dumb and Mascara. I'm starting to get into #HoodLove and Brand New too.
I don't know what to think of "Veins". I guess it's sort of a sequel to "Call Me Guilty" and "Redemption" in terms of the lyrical content, but it's no where near as good as those two songs.
I'm really impressed with her growth as a songwriter and a vocalist. I much prefer her more mature and developed vocal style to her earlier one (eg. In Love With Another Man). I'm honestly so happy she's back.
In terms of sales, hopefully the strong critical reception and top 5 debut will be enough for her to release another record in the future. But then again, I'm sure she could just write bland R&B songs for people like Monica to make $$$ and then release music independently. So I'm not really bothered about the commercial performance of the singles or albums.
I try so hard to be good to you, Stanley
But why don't you care and you take me for granted?
You know I love you but I'm getting tired
You might get burned cause you're playing with fire
