The explanation was already brought up by Drowned-World
The problem with the era though was that the music was just simply nowhere near being good enough to represent what GaGa wanted. To this day, I still only can bare four songs on the album, and they're not even worth illegally downloading.
Had GaGa worked harder and created better songs, this wouldn't have been a problem.
