Well it does cost something to physically produce each CD, between the plastic, the paper, the shrinkwrap, the stickers, the ink, the booklets and the disc + labels ship boxes of CDs to every music retailer in the US which costs $ too. I'm sure the cost would be a lot more if a label didn't press so many copies at one time but per individual CD, a dollar seems kind of cheap. And these days, a LOT of artists aren't even putting their CDs in jewel cases (like Coldplay or Jonas Bros.) to cut even more $ off the manufacturing. Labels are trying to salvage profit wherever they can so they're making cheaper quality products by cutting corners with cardboard cases.

I download music that is not available in our country or songs that I really want but I don;t want the full album. Besides I'm not that rich.

But I buy albums constantly, especially if I love the artist so much.

I download music from all those illegal music sites and that Limewire program and such.

I ONLY support Beysus, and buy ALL her stuff, albums, singles and DVDs even if I'm broke and she don't need it cause she has 80 million in her bank.

Other artist did NOT concern me.

This is true, but my point is that only a small fraction of these fans pay to see these musicians on tour. I think a "fan" should feel obligated to support an artist they like in at least one way or another, nothing should be absolutely free.

Being a fan itself is enough of a reward for an artist. Even if they don't support the artist directly, just by having their music, listening to it and spreading it they are free promotion for the artist and can attract fans who do go to concerts and/or buy CDs or DVDs.

I get most of my songs on iTunes using credit, but I also buy albums. And if a song becomes free on the internet whether from the artist or an offical place, then I'll download the song (ex: Nickelback releasing Gotta Be Somebody for download on their website, VH1 releasing My Life Would Suck Without You on their website).

Oh, and that whole "cut off the internet" plan will fail. Why? Because so many people download illegally. If you try to get rid of EVERYONE who has downloaded a song illegally...well, you might as well just say goodbye to the majority of your customers. Even some people who buy albums on a regular basis have obtained music in an illegal fashion.

If you really want to hit the downloader where it hurts, seek out those who have made the songs available for illegal downloading.
