MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2008! Top 20 Albums: #'s 8 & 7
What's up people? Tonight I am going to post albums 8 & 7. Both of these albums are from Chicago-natives. One album is from a band, the other from an MC. Here they are:
Recap:
20. Gnarls Barkley - The Odd Couple
19. John Legend - Evolver
18. Tyga - No Introduction
17. Nas -
16. Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman
15. David Cook - David Cook
14. The All-American Rejects - When the World Comes Down
13. 3 Doors Down - 3 Doors Down
12. The Killers - Day & Age
11. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
10. The Roots - Rising Down
9. Gym Class Heroes - The Quilt
8. Common - Universal Mind Control

Drive to Buy/Listen to: My liking of Common, & my liking of Universal Mind Control & Announcement.
Favorite Songs: Punch Drunk Love (feat. Kanye West), Gladiator (feat. Pharrell), Make My Day (feat. Cee-Lo), Announcement (feat. Pharrell), & Universal Mind Control (feat. Pharrell)
I first knew of Common's music through listening to last year's Finding Forever, which I thought was good. This year, Common released the long delayed Universal Mind Control. Filled with electro-tinged club bangers, this album is a great departure from Common's signature style. The songs on the album are filled with monster beats, great rhymes, and notable guest appearances. One of the great choruses on the album is from Cee-Lo on Make My Day, where his addition makes the song sound like a Gnarls Barkley one! Some of the great beats on the album are on Punch Drunk Love (the background vocals [or it might be talk box, I'm not sure] in that song are amazing!), and on Gladiator. On Announcement Common states: "Everybody, I'd like to announce. Throw your hands up cause we in the house." Well I'll definitely throw my hands up, because Common has delivered a great album, which is now #8 on my Top 20 Albums of 2008!
7. Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux

Drive to Buy/Listen to: My liking of Fall Out Boy.
Favorite Songs: 20 Dollar Nose Bleed (feat. Brendan Urie), I Don't Care, What a Catch, Donnie, Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet, & w.a.m.s.
What happened Fall Out Boy? Nah, just kidding. Folie a Deux may have not reached #1 like last year's Infinity On High, but it is still awesome! Filled with stadium-anthems, and even some fist-pumpers, Folie a Deux is unlike Infinity On High. However, it is not a complete departure. The main great parts of this album are probably the great guitar, vocals, and suprise guest appearances. Some of those great guest appearances include Lil Wayne on Tiffany Blews, Elvis Costello (and a whole lot more) on What a Catch, Donnie, and Brendan Urie (providing great vocals, and what might just be the highlight of this album) on 20 Dollar Nose Bleed. Folie a Deux also contains some great lyrics, like on I Don't Care, where Patrick Stump states that: "I don't care what you think, just as long as it's about me." Well, you probably should care what I think, because I think Folie a Deux is an awesome album, which is now at #7 on my Top 20 Albums of 2008!
Hope you all are liking the chart and the write-ups! Tomorrow, I will post 2 more albums, which I am still a little unsure of yet. Anyways, see ya all! And btw, I will try and comment on other countdowns when I can, just not right now.

MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2008! Top 20 Albums: #'s 6 & 5
Hey guys! Tonight, I will post albums 6 & 5. Between these two, Folie a Deux, and album 4, it was really hard for me to decide. One album for today is from Hanna's heroes, while the other comes from the pride of New Orleans. Here they are:
Recap:
20. Gnarls Barkley - The Odd Couple
19. John Legend - Evolver
18. Tyga - No Introduction
17. Nas -
16. Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman
15. David Cook - David Cook
14. The All-American Rejects - When the World Comes Down
13. 3 Doors Down - 3 Doors Down
12. The Killers - Day & Age
11. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
10. The Roots - Rising Down
9. Gym Class Heroes - The Quilt
8. Common - Universal Mind Control
7. Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux
6. Nickelback - Dark Horse

Drive to Buy/Listen to: My liking of Nickelback.
Favorite Songs: Gotta Be Somebody, If Today Was Your Last Day, This Afternoon, Shakin' Hands, & Just to Get High
Nickelback has been one of my favorite bands ever since I first heard Savin' Me (which was my #1 song of 2006), from their last album, All The Right Reasons. In September, Nickelback returned to the music scene with their new single, Gotta Be Somebody. I still really like Gotta Be Somebody, which got me pumped for Dark Horse. When Dark Horse came out, right away I loved it! The album includes usual Nickelback-style ballads (I'd Come For You, Never Gonna Be Alone), adult-themed rock anthems (Something In Your Mouth, Shakin' Hands, S.E.X.), and other powerful post-grunge songs (If Today Was Your Last Day, Gotta Be Somebody). One main thing that I like about Dark Horse is that some of the songs on it tell a story. In This Afternoon, a bunch of friends party and live life to its fullest. In Just to Get High, a man who tried to helped his drug-addict friend tells the friends story. Nickelback's turn to more adult-themed songs may have changed the opinions of them from some of the band's fans, but I certainly am not one of those changed fans! Anyways, Dark Horse is now #6 on my Top 20 Albums of 2008!
5. Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III

Drive to Buy/Listen to: The hype of TC3, & my liking of Lollipop & its remix.
Favorite Songs: Lollipop (feat. Static Major)/Lollipop (Remix) [feat. Static Major & Kanye West], Got Money (feat. T-Pain), Mr. Carter (feat. Jay-Z), Dr. Carter, & You Ain't Got Nuthin' (feat. Fabolous & Juelz Santana)
Before Lollipop was released, I thought Lil Wayne was ok. The only songs I liked with him as the main artist were Shooter (from Tha Carter II) & Showtime (original first single from Tha Carter III, now titled Action and a bonus track on some versions of Tha Carter III). Fast-forward to today, and I am not yet sick of Lil Wayne (unlike most people on ATRL). And I think Tha Carter II is great! I like the Auto-Tuned vocals on the album on songs such as Lollipop, Got Money, & You Ain't Got Nuthin'. Also, some of Wayne's verses on songs are brilliant! For example, on Mr. Carter, Lil Wayne declares that he "got Summer hatin' on me cause I'm hotter than the sun, got Spring hatin' on me cause I ain't ever sprung, Winter hatin' on me cause I'm colder than ya'll, but I would never, I would never, I would never fall." Some of the guest appearances are amazing too, like Jay-Z on Mr. Carter, T-Pain on Got Money, and of course, Kanye West on Lollipop (Remix). On the latter, Kanye states: "Tell ya girl like Doritos that not yo (nacho) cheese, tell her friends like Fritos I'm not tryin' to lay, I can only have one and I ain't tryin' to wait." With genius lyrics like these, I declare Tha Carter III this year's SECOND-TO best Rap album! Also, Tha Carter III is now #5 on my Top 20 Songs of 2008!
Now that I have hinted that Tha Carter III isn't the last Rap album on my list, what do ya'll think it is? And I will be back tomorrow with album #4! See ya!

MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2008! Top 20 Albums: #4
Hello people! Today we get into the Top 4 albums, and only 1 album per post now! The album for today is the last Rap album on my chart, and it comes from a well-known Atlanta MC:
Recap:
20. Gnarls Barkley - The Odd Couple
19. John Legend - Evolver
18. Tyga - No Introduction
17. Nas -
16. Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman
15. David Cook - David Cook
14. The All-American Rejects - When the World Comes Down
13. 3 Doors Down - 3 Doors Down
12. The Killers - Day & Age
11. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
10. The Roots - Rising Down
9. Gym Class Heroes - The Quilt
8. Common - Universal Mind Control
7. Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux
6. Nickelback - Dark Horse
5. Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III
4. T.I. - Paper Trail

Drive to Buy/Listen to: My liking of T.I., and my liking of various songs that were released/leaked before Paper Trail's release.
Favorite Songs: Swagga Like Us (feat. Kanye West, Jay-Z, & Lil Wayne), Live Your Life (feat. Rihanna), Whatever You Like, Swing Ya Rag (feat. Swizz Beatz), & My Life Your Entertainment (feat. Usher)
In late July, T.I. released one of his biggest singles ever, the Jim Jonsin-produced Whatever You Like. WYL may not be better than Lollipop, but T.I. definitely delivered more than Lil Wayne with Paper Trail. The album contains huge beats produced by the likes of Drumma Boy, Kanye West, and Swizz Beatz. The latter provides a very catchy chorus to the anthem-like Swing Ya Rag. Another catchy chorus comes from Rihanna on Live Your Life, a song about people who want more than they have, but should be happy with what they got. Some great lyricism is on My Life Your Entertainment, where Usher declares "I walk they follow, I talk they holler, just here for your amusement. The guests on Paper Trail may provide some great vocals & rhymes, but that doesn't mean T.I. doesn't deliver some too! On the Hip-Hop heavyweight Swagga Like Us, T.I. states that "verses autobiographical, absolutely classical, last thing I'm worried 'bout is what another rapper do." With lyrics, beats, and guest appearances that are awesome, Paper Trail is my fovorite Rap album of 2008, and #4 on my Top 20 Albums of 2008!
So there's #4. Anyone suprised that Tip beat Weezy? Anyways, tomorrow I will post my #3 album, and I know some of you will be very happy with it. See ya until then!

Thanks for the comments so far! And Daniel, by underrated for those albums, do you mean that I underrated them, or that they are underrated in general?
