I Kissed A Girl MV was not iconic. The song was.
Also Single Ladies is on VEVO, IKAG is not. Believe it or not that DOES make a huge difference.
...
Also:
Pre-VEVO:
Single Ladies: 240,000 views ( )
I Kissed A Girl: 67,000,000 views
That puts Katy at 120,000,000 to Bey's 300,000,000. Still a landslide, but not a great.

Capitol's youtube channel is supported by VEVO. So it does NOT make any difference

Pretty sure SL video was bigger at the time it was a hit.
But it remains a fact that SL got WAY more views after their upload to VEVO (and the video of IKAG got uploaded to VEVO, so that's invalid statement)
http://www.vevo.com/watch/katy-perry...l/USCA30800051
And well, obviously the video did its job: it made the song a bigger hit.

Do you seriously think Single Ladies only had 240,000 views on YouTube when it was the biggest dance craze of the decade? Everyone mimiced the video... they had to watch it.

It does tho. When people go to YouTube and look for videos they look for the VEVO tag. Being a VEVO-supported channel doesn't change the fact that it says CapitolMusic and not KatyPerryVEVO, thus people may not think it's official.

And biggest dance craze of the decade? That's hardly accurate.

This has to be the dumbest thing I've seen on ATRL. when people go to look for videos on YouTube, they look for a screen cap that looks like the video they're looking for. The "vevo" tag is irrelevant.

Not y'all trying to argue single ladies status by using vevo views
At this rate you might as well call that fox song bugger than both of these

In a forum where stats, certifications, sales are everything... of course IKAG would win.
But no one uses that song anymore. I barely remembered IKAG had a video. For the longest time, I thought it was a radio parody.
Single Ladies wins hands down for its legacy, cultural impact, and recognizability.
