Taven was also a crucial part of the story (until Raiden hit the reset button, that is), but I'm sure most people will also think of him as filler.
I don't really think Tanya has anything going for her to stand out besides lore. I mean, her doing leg tricks and stuff is cool, but both Sonya and Li Mei do that better.

Big reason why I don't think they will go through with this. I think Ed Boon will make up an excuse in the story for why they're alive.

Tanya is a very popular character. Plus since they killed Jax & Jade, they need a black character 
Li Mei has SOOOOO much potential to be better than she was in MKDA/MKD, but that's for another game or DLC for MK10. I would be here for ha though 
As for Tanya, she was the one who helped Quan Chi & Shinnok's plan pan out. It wouldn't have happened if she didn't betray the Edenians for her selfish reasons. She is the baddest villainess in the game sans Sindel in MK3.
And for Taven, no. he was crucial for MKA, which was a misstep and is completely and totally different. I hope they don't bring him back because him and Daegon were literally the most basic and generic characters they had. Even Konquest was didn't give him "character" i guess. He doesn't have a following, much like Shujinko. Both of them should cease to exist (even though MK  Konquest was the best ever  )

They need Sub-Zero in the game. The rest of them can miss the game tbh.
Liu will likely be back. The only thing I'm worried about is them starting fresh with a brand new timeline with brand new characters. It would be WAAAY too risky.

asjfksfd She's popular? I really had no idea. I've never encountered someone who said Tanya was their favorite. I mean, I definitely use, as I use pretty much all the females, but still. 
And WAIT, are we forgetting Mileena? I mean, she could be considered more of a pawn for Shao Kahn than a villain in her own right, but I personally think she's really bad-ass.
Li Mei definitely needs to fill out her potential. Her flip kicks that keep opponents in the air, and the rotating kick that sends them in the air, both give me life. I remember I would always steal those special moves in KaK on Armageddon.

I seriously can NOT wait for MK10!
My favorite survived MK9 & NRS setup MK10 to be AMAZING! 
I would like to see Rain & Tanya play an integral part in MK10's storyline... and I would love a return of Konquest mode!
I'm glad there's some MK fans on here!

I mean, we still have Baraka, Scorpion, Reptile, Kenshi, Sonya, Milenna, Johnny Cage, Quan Chi & Raiden.
If they include Fujin, Kai, Tanya, Reiko, and Shinnok, I'm cool with them adding brand new characters to the mix...

Sis, I've been on MK forums since I was in the 5th grade (2006), LOL. I've been through it ALL. There are HELLA Tanya stans. The female popularity is as follows:
Kitana = Mileena = Sonya > Sindel = Jade = Tanya > Li Mei > Nitara > Frost = Sareena > Sheeva > Khameleon > Kira > Ashrah
Tanya has a HUGE following, just as big as Jade and Sindel. Mileena was the definition of a pawn. She didn't choose her own destiny until like MK A, which ended up biting her in the ass. I love me some Mileena though. Li Mei slays, I know. but Tanya would make more sense if they're going for MK:4 Reboot (I hope)

Poor Female Kano and Female Raiden Although I can understand why Ashrah be unpopular. She isn't all that great at combat, and she's dressed like a nun. I actually really like Kira, though.
I'm hoping rather than just going through the whole entire story line again, but with better graphics, they do something that would actually change the flow of events. Some characters could reveal themselves earlier, and others could stay in hiding. Maybe good guys turn villainous, idk just something to shake it up, rather than just them remaking the whole series with updated graphics.

Mess I thought it as a trailer or something.
I dunno, Ed Boon LOVES to troll, So who knows If we might be getting an announcement for mk10.
I'm really excited for it though, (even though they messed up the original timeline in mk9)
Always and forever will be bitter on what they did to Kitana and Mileenas storyline.
