I too personally find his proliferation of the "Happy Slave" narrative more bothersome than his homophobic statements.
BUT did you all know that this is the third most-watched show in America this year? It averages 13 million viewers each episode.
I had no idea it even existed before this controversy.

Not surprised, Middle america and the south are all about this show.
Yes, he does have freedom of speech. Hence why he wasnt arrested for his comments. But A&E can choose to do what they ****ing want. That's THEIR freedom as a network. ****ing moron hicks
My family was telling me about this yesterday. He said something like this on TV (?) and also commented on blacks and got kicked off the show (unless it was another person; I don't watch this show to know who it exactly was).
I don't mind his pov on gays but this is honestly retarded to say:
Quote:
“It seems to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” he said. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking, ‘There’s more there! She’s got more to offer.’ I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”
My whole family/school loves this show I saw so many comments on my twitter today of people I go to school with saying "Yeah Phil! We hate those gays too!" But yeah this is how almost every southern baptist acts.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess. He made some stupid ass remarks, but I'd say let him be ignorant. He should've kept this mouth shut or at least expressed his feelings in a much nicer way,
I like how they ignore the racist remarks. I find those more appalling than the homophobic remarks.
Yeah, I agree. His whole narrative about the "happy slave" was far more ignorant. But the gay comments are what the media want to focus on.
Like, he's from a redneck background. It's really not surprising that he would say anything like this. It'd be more shocking if he didn't feel this way
Sarah Palin called US intolerant for complaining about Phil's statement. What kind of hypocritical mess?
I was about to go ballistic when I read her comment. The fact that someone could have the goddamn NERVE to call US the "intolerants" for this is incredible, actually.
