No, it's really not. Commercial =/= generic. As if Lana is that deep. Her monotone voice makes everything seem deep and inspirational, and boring. Born To Die was half decent, but then everything she released afterwards just sounds the same. She has no range.

Applause is been out for a MONTH. One month ago Lana was not top 10 in Australia, United States or worldwide. She was above Applause on iTunes for a while the week when Applause was released in the States and the difference on sales weekly isn't big to be a brand new song. In fact, Lana is on a way more complicated level than Gaga because her song is one year old, and well the first cause of her success is Young & Beautiful.

Listen, I don't want to argue about Gaga's performance on the charts. But I'm just saying it IS very possible for a pop girl to have the sales of 12 months (of a not very big artist) in a month.
