There are a lot of things in this world that shouldn't happen, but they do. Teaching your child how to defend himself/herself along with having a good ground structure of confidence is the best thing (and probably the only thing) they can do.
You will not cure this world of "shouldn't be's" by being anti-x. You deal with it and do what it takes to avoid it.
