A chorus being repetitive isn't necessarily bad, but when the repetition is ridiculously banal or joyless that's when it's just terrible.
Like, "We Found Love" is great because there's so much joy and emotion in the simple repetition of "we found love in a hopeless place" and she intones it differently each time, almost like she's exploring her emotions as she's singing them, while "Get Lucky" is so awful to me because Pharrell sings it with all the enthusiasm of a vegetable.
