The only reason people say it's disappointing is because Applause isn't slaying the charts up and down. The looks and music have been amazing so far, and the Applause video is one of her best. But this is ATRL, the place where having songs being #1 on billboard is the only measure of success and Katy Perry and Rihanna are called black madonna and female MJ.
The music this era is absolutely mind blowing. Way better than I could have imagined. Swine, ARTPOP, MANiCURE, Jewels and Drugs. All completely blew me away. I don't understand why Applause was released, but then again I do, because Interscope thought it would get her that quick hit.
