With my top 120 singles of 2006 out of the way, it's time to get into my top 20 albums! If you missed my honorable mentions, go back to page 4 or so to take a look at those. That said, let's get to my #20 to #16 albums of the year...
Why I chose The Open Door
Over the years, I've had a love/not-so-much-with-the-love relationship with Evanescence. I liked them when they first broke on the scene, got tired of Amy Lee around the time of "Broken," liked them again later, got sick of "Call Me When You're Sober," and then I started to appreciate their new album. Their KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas performance inspired me to listen to it, and I really liked what I heard.
My favorite tracks from The Open Door
3. Sweet Sacrifice - The first track of the album, which gets it all off to a great start.
2. Lacrymosa - I've seen some other people give high praise for this one as well.
1. Good Enough - The last track and a near-perfect, beautiful ending to the whole thing.
Why I chose The Eraser
Thom Yorke's side project ended up being one of the best projects of the year. As he takes his band, Radiohead, back in the direction of guitar-driven music, he experimented with some electronic-based stuff himself. The result was amazing, giving every song a really dark, haunting aura about it.
My favorite tracks from The Eraser
3. Harrowdown Hill - The repetition in this track makes Thom Yorke's creepy tendencies shine.
2. Analyse - Probably my favorite track to listen to at the moment from the album.
1. Black Swan - Easily the best overall, it can almost give you chills just listening to it.
Why I chose Food & Liquor
As we all know by now, Ben is pretty much the FNF scholar, so you can read his excellent write-up for more information on the album. Thanks to Benjammin' and the FNF radio show, I started to like Lupe Fiasco and this album a lot this year.
My favorite tracks from Food & Liquor
3. Sunshine - A genius song; the best non-single to make it on the final cut of the album.
2. Kick, Push II (original version) - Before it was totally ruined for the retail release, this track was amazing.
1. Daydreamin' - Lupe teams up with Jill Scott for an incredible collaboration; my favorite track.
Why I chose Show Your Bones
I've liked Karen O. and friends ever since I first heard of them on the premiere episode of Subterranean back in 2003. Their latest album is another instant classic; one that I anticipated from the beginning of the year and listened to a ton of times throughout the rest of 2006.
My favorite tracks from Show Your Bones
3. Mysteries - My favorite non-single from the main part of the album, this one is great.
2. Deja Vu - The bonus track, but one of the best. It probably should've made it to the "actual" track listing.
1. Gold Lion - As you all just saw, it's my #2 single of 2006, so it's easily the best on the album.
Why I chose Sam's Town
If I made my top 20 albums list a month ago, you wouldn't find The Killers anywhere near this list. I didn't give the album a chance at first, I just wrote it off completely, including the incredible single "When You Were Young." That all changed earlier this month, when it finally hit me and I understood that this album is a fantastic creation. I also like how the "Enterlude" and "Exitlude" give the album an underlying theme.
My favorite tracks from Sam's Town
3. Sam's Town - Gets the album off to a great start before the Enterlude kicks in.
2. Bones - The second single choice, which proves they really know how to choose them.
1. When You Were Young - A great song that I'm glad I appreciated before 2006 ended.

Later tonight, my #15-11 albums! Join me for that and as always, keep supporting the thread.
