And certainly everything off Born This Way. As I said she only has two. Poker Face and Bad Romance. Y'all will just have to deal.

Diamonds is a few months old. When Rihanna has that yearly 4th quarter release everyone will forget about it, just like all her other singles besides Umbrella which is only remembered because people were so SHOCKED she didn't actually flop like everyone had expected for like 2 years.
Keep doing the most with Umbrella it's embarrassing how pitiful Rihanna's career really is when it's dissected.

Gurl the fact you have to come for janet to defend the fact that Gaga has not had a memorial song since 2010 indicates I hit a nail on the head
And stay on topic !

Those memorable hits that you speak of dont even get radio airplay. How is it suppose to be memorable when a DJ wont even spin you.

The whole "DJ's aren't playing Gaga music" is such a bulls**t argument. The other night at this club in Miami, they had a Ciara night. Does that mean that Ciara's music is more memorable than Gaga's? No.
The Navy needs to learn that there is a world outside of gay clubs and the Hot 100, a world which watched Bad Romance way more than any Rihanna video to the point where it was certified Diamond. Shine bright like a Diamond-certified single that my fave garnered on her own! Congrats to Eminem's on HIS Diamond-certified single, too!

Gaga hasn't released since 2011. Rihanna has released singles in 2013. Of course Rih is getting more airplay right now And what did you mean by Diamonds is more "instant"? BTW went #1 on iTunes in minutes. I'm not going to even entertain the other outlandish claims.

Umbrella is more memorable than any Gaga song, mainly because it's been out longer. But I see in the near future Poker Face/Bad Romance will be more memorable, since after all they are more successful and have more impact.

I did it exactly how the other poster did it to make a point and for consistency. I also looked up Umbrella, We Found Love, Diamonds, Stay, Bad Romance, Born This Way, Pokerface, Alejandro, and Telephone up (in quotations) and you mean to tell me Alejandro and Telephone are both bigger than Bad Romance?... According to Google Trends at least... The point I'm trying to make is, it's not necessarily the best tool to use to argue about memorability...
Anyway, in my opinion, GaGa has Bad Romance, Born This Way, and Pokerface and Rihanna as "We Found Love", "Diamonds", "Umbrella", and "Love The Way You Lie".
|
I realize that you were trying to make a point and that Google Trends is not necessarily the best tool to use, but I figured that if people were going to use it, they may as well use it properly to avoid inclusion of common terms. I don't want you to feel like it was necessarily aimed at you; the only thing I was using to respond to your your post is the inclusion of "Diamonds", and the rest was a general post to all those in the thread using Google Trends.

When was the LASTTTT Time any of you heard gaga's song being PLAYED on radio or in the clubs??????????? BECAUSE Rihannas new and old songs still get played on a daily basis. ATRL Don't understand how much DEMAND there is for Rihanna in the GP . Her music is the sound of the generation why do you think she can release yearly???
I actually believe some people still think it's 2009.

They don't know about anything other then ATRL and the gay community. If you was smart you would know rihanna has more memorable songs that get played more often then gaga's. Rihanna also has recent hit's that still get airplay. I meannnnnnnn has anybody even HEARD Born this way getting played on radio ever since the start of that era looooooooooool.

Gaga is irrelevant. She waited much too long to tour with her last album and now she has completely fallen off altogether. People simply look for reasons to tear down Rihanna's musical impact because their fave is struggling.

Oh I know. I was just pointing that out. At the end of the day, people are just going to vote for their faves anyway. The point about Google Trends is something I've been wanting to address anyway.

I agree with this. Except I'd replace Telephone with another song like maybe Just Dance. I hear it a lot regularly on the radio.

2 pages and I've already had enough.
I'll let Rivington, MM3, Retro and the rest of the monsters drag you all with common sense and logical statements

But the BTW Ball had a higher average gross and sellout rate than her previous tour. And she was named as the most talked about celebrity of 2012. And she was named "Queen of Pop", or in one instance the most famous living person, by multiple publications. How does that constitute irrelevance?

I'll admit that while I think GT could be useful in this situation, such as by looking at the song's trajectory after it peaks, I have seen it used in the most nonsensical threads you could imagine.
