But Alicia Keys made a bigger impact than Aaliyah. One In A Million or her other albums will never be more remembered than Songs in the Minor and The Diary Of Alicia Keys.

OIAM alone is a classic because it will always be a reference album. Do a biography on Missy (The best selling female rapper of all time)? OIAM is mentioned. DO a bio on Tim (one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time, also built Justin Timberlake's career)? OIAM is always mentioned. Look back on influential r & b albums? OIAM is always mentioned. You can't reference Alicia's bland ass catalogue for **** because all she does is jack soul singers.

Janet stood a chance, but she hasn't released a good album in over a decade.
Beyonce's discography is thin and borderline non-existent.
And Aaliyah had 2 good albums. So do a hundreds of artists. That pretty much means nothing.

I didn't see none of Aaliyah's albums on this list.

That still don't make her a great vocalist. She not perfect at all or even near perfect. She was a good singer but her vocal do nothing to me. She just a girl with good tone and that about it in my eyes. Alicia done alot to me because her raw and soulness vocal.

Once again, what do the opinions of my faves have to do with what Aaliyah accomplished while she was here (as if anyone's fave is the authority on determining another artist's importance in the progression of music )?

I'll give you those ranks, as disappointing as they are for someone who ya'll think really had a significant impact on R&B music.

You have to focus less on what people's faves have said about the artist, and more on what the artist actually did. Naming artists who have recognized her talent is not an indication of how they've contributed to the development of music within a genre. There's so much to it that you're not understanding.

What you said was opinion. You can only bring up acclaim in Madonna's case because Janet's first two albums & last three albums were critical duds & commercial failures. No one really bring up Janet's catalog anymore, and there have been other females who have challenged her acclaim, catalog sales, etc. Those are facts.

Janet, Aaliyah, and Beyonce are the best black female singer/dancers since Tina Turner. Bey is more like Tina, while Aaliyah is more like Janet.

Janet changed the playing field for what it was to be a female pop superstar.

You not only had to be able to sing, you had to also be able to sing, DANCE, PERFORM, ACT, and at times sell sex.

Other than singing, Mariah and Whitney fell immensely flat. Sure they've inspired many young girls and boys around the world to sing because of their voices but in terms of pop today Janet had much more musical and performance prominence. Every pop girl that comes out today is expected to do much more than get in front of a mic and sing, they have to be able to do it all.

Madonna is the primary influence for pop girls. Next is MJ. Janet is probably third. However, Whitney is/was more WW than Janet.
