Scientific theory holds much more weight than the theory you're talking about.
A scientific theory is: "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment." It's close to being factual but scientists are very cautious to name them so.
For example, the nature of gravity is still a theory but anyone who denies it to be factual is just mentally ill.
