He's always in huge movies with lots of acclaim yet he never gets any awards attention. He can't standout for some reason, or maybe the critics are biased? He's bland and boring though. Really don't get what the big deal is with him at all.

This. I feel like he tries really hard to do Oscar bait films so he can finally win one, but lately its been the same acting in similar roles. He always plays the whole "disturbed hero" character.
