They did play it first, but then they started playing the Pop version, it's not like we're speculating, Hunter and others kept hearing the Pop version on Country stations.

Up until now a #1 meant something. Now the country chart's about who can get more airplay on Top 40 stations and subsequently get more digital sales. It doesn't even matter if the song is well received by the audience for which it's intended. According to Billboard, genres are now irrelevant.

True. It's fine that they want to include digital sales but they need to count only the country airplay for the Country Charts.
Pop airplay shouldn't be included here.
So, if Rihanna releases a song to country radio, she will be the next #1 on the country songs chart, right?

She just wasn't lucky with the timing.
How are any other artists suppose to go #1? Carrie's digital sales are good, but she's not selling 80K+ a week, and her airplay on other formats is very minimal. Her country airplay is dominant, but apparently country airplay isn't important anymore, which sucks because Blown Away was going to be #1 for two or three weeks.

i dont think overall airplay should be considered tbh.. i mean how could Billboard even think this was right, when we simple minded random folks see through it??? the genre charts are gonna be a joke now... so not here for the change..!
