Yes, they'll say something like "his entire career sales", including his sales as a solo artist and as part of his bands. But that's not the same thing as someone asking "How many albums did Beyonce sell?" and include both album sales from DC and solo.
Paul is still never going to be cited as the best selling artist of all time. The media will just report the overall total of album sales in which he was involved.
