I think we are heading into a bit of a revolving-door #1 phase. Taylor is going to be #1 next week, and I have a feeling that Lights will be discounted, and that song will be #1 the following week. After that, I think it will be a weekly battle between Taylor and Whistle.

SAIKI was suppressed by WFL being so overplayed, even when their sales were better.

Whistle got lucky. Remember, two of Flo Rida's efforts were not so fortunate.

And in Starships' case... Well, she fudged up her opportunities to make it by becoming the most disliked figure in the industry this year. Everything from Stupid Hoe, to the Grammys performance (which wasn't even what she was releasing the next day, which was stupid, to begin with...) led to it all. That is to say, she wouldn't have made it around fun and Gotye either way...
