This is not flamebait, but my answer is simple: YES, because Destiny's Child did not really catapult Beyonce's career into what it is now. Everything is because of her hard work and desire.

Destiny's Child wasn't really that successful to begin with. (Maybe 25 Million albums sold at the peak of albums sales, which is great, but you have Britney's BOMT that sold 16 Million copies, and OIDIA that sold 20 million copies worldwide.) If that was the case back then, she would have sold 100 Million ALBUMS by now as a solo artist.

Another thing to consider is that her dad and mom will do anything to get her a career, so even if Destiny's Child didn't exist, she would still be going solo to begin with.

Well i'm sure Coko from SWV, and Dawn from En Vogue and even Left Eye from TLC faced backlash from leaving their groups so suddenly.

Beyonce being solo would be like a new artist and she wouldn't have the steam she had with DC. She would be competing with already established acts like Brandy, Monica, and Aaliyah. In 1997 Beyonce wasn't GREAT but she was good, and could improve. Who knows, maybe she needed that support system around her with friends. Even if she sung lead a lot of times, maybe she still needed her friends from Texas to be by her side and help her get through it.

That's a good point. Kelly and Michelle don't have that DISTINCT harmonized sound like Bey does. Bey has an ear for creating music that most people don't even understand. And the fact that she popularized that whole staccato singing style... And if you listen closely on most DC records, Bey is doing lead and background vocals. I think the result would have been the same.
