Britney did co-write 'Oops.' She's co-written almost every track she's recorded, but she's said before that she doesn't take credit unless she wrote the song from scratch, which is what real artists do.
She co-wrote 'Inside Out,' 'How I Roll,' '(Drop Dead) Beautiful,' 'Big Fat Bass,' 'Crimnal,' 'He About To Lose Me,' and 'Don't Keep Me Waiting.'
She is always praised by songwriters for not stealing credits:

I would just like to address one thing. The media is talking trash about how Britney didn't write any of the songs on her album… Hello. Wake up everybody. NONE OF THESE ARTISTS WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS. Anyway… here's my thing… and I feel VERY passionate about this issue. Britney could have come to me, like all these other A-list artists, and said…
"Hey, you wanna be on my album? I'm gonna need writing credit for that song AND part of your publishing even though I didn't write anything. And then I'm gonna go on tour and gross $150 million in ticket sales and not give you any of that, even though I'm performing your song."
I could rattle off a laundry list of artists who I've had that conversation with. And I'm on the other end like… "Oh, okay… so you wanna rape me, but just with the tip?!" *Beyoncé side eye* Britney's one of the few artists I've worked with who didn't try to take something that wasn't hers. In my experience, from a business standpoint, her entire team is nothing less than a bonafide class act.

|
That doesn't make sense. Britney will continue to make music for a very long time and even if she doesn't, her legacy is and always will remain one of the biggest of pop history.

I cant at people trying to underestimate the impact of the influential, iconic and innovative TOXIC. Let's NOT.

Just because i don't think your fave is a Music Legend i am pressed, it makes sense.

No that's not it..considering i myself don't think she's a music legend.
You ARE pressed considering the fact that you're always in threads related to her trying to belittle her impact or shading her.
I also find it hilarious that anyone with a katy perry avatar tries to come for britney.

There are “legends” and “pop icons”.
Britney Spears is a pop icon. She has her classic songs... BOMT, Toxic, Oops, Womanizer etc. They sold “whatever total Alexz makes up”. However, when you look at her albums, no one is here for them. I have known Britney for 10 years and the only album I can recount from my head is Blackout. The rest I had to Wikipedia. She is in the same boat as your Rihanna’s, Katy’s, Ke$ha’s etc. You can name all their greatest hits, but you will be hard pressed to actually remember their album names. #NoShade.
Alicia Keys IS a legend. The impact she made in her 2001 debut, in an era of Pop culture and early modern rock, is tantamount. She has her classic hits, Fallin’, No One, If I Ain’t Got You, You Don’t Know My Name, Sleeping with a Broken Heart etc. But she has 4 memorable, genre-defining albums. What straight up Rookie jumps into a Pop cluttered field, releases an RnB/Urban album and receives 5 Grammys from that same album. Then follows it up with 3 solid, creative albums.
I don’t regard Beyoncé and Christina as legends since they truly don’t have a certain niche to them. They are talented, hard-working and have made a huge impact. But they change from different genres too loosely to have a defined “caricature”. Beyoncé went from Rnb to Pop, Pop, to Rnb. Christina’s album have been all over the place. Solid, but no real direction. Alicia has been in the game a decade, and stayed pure to herself, her roots and evolved with each album.
Can we say the same for the others?

After Madonna, there was no really big global popstar until Britney, and after Britney became the first female artist to emerge during the rise of boybands, with her huge success came a lot of popstars who followed '...Baby One More Time,' including Christina.
She opened the doors for her, Mandy, Jessica, etc. She was the reason for the Anti-Britney movement, which produced Avril, Nelly Furtado, P!nk, etc. which were all created as Anti-Britneys.
Christina wouldn't have even gotten a pop record deal with RCA if it weren't for Britney. Every label wanted to have their own Britney at the time. Her label manufactured her so she could battle Britney and her popularity. She was originally supposed to be a ****ing soul singer.
I can't understand why you think she's more legendary than Britney. The sound Britney created with Max Martin, and a huge number of producers as well, is still influential and can be heard in the works of Rihanna, Ke$ha, Katy, Pink, and lots of artists. Max Martin is producing Christina’s upcoming single and album, for God's sake.

I don't listen to pop music usually, i am not a Katy Perry stan, but i like her a lot.
I listen to Britney Spears sometimes, and i don't deny her success and her as an Icon in Pop Music.
Just because i think you have to be talented to be considered a MUSIC LEGEND doesn't mean i'm trying to come for anyone. Please, grow up.

Yes, she's iconic and will be remembered. But I think at this rate Britney just seems like she'll be happier retired, so she might just stop or slow down faster than Bey would. Plus she already has the energy of a 80 year old, only the lawd knows what's gonna happen when she really starts to go down in age

I was being sarcastic.
I don't deny Britney's impact and pop culture and it would be stupid to argue that, but to say "OMG!!! Britney changed the music industry!!!111" is reaching for sunshine.
What exactly did she change about the music industry? Lip synching has been here and popular before she was even on the Mickey Mouse Club. Michael, Janet, Prince and many others were known for dancing before Britney Spears. So, what exactly did she change? If you're going to acknowledge her impact and success, acknowledge that. She didn't change the music industry. Today's music industry would still be the same with or without her.

What make you say Britney will be happier retired? And can't say that much about Beyonce, she's a mother now who knows what she'll handle her life from now on.
