First of all, the music of each era is noticeably different. TF = light radio pop TFM = dark radio pop BTW = dark, more grungy, "sledgehammer" pop mixed with politicial messages. BTW is obviously the most complex.
Second of all, the image is different for each as well. TF's difference is obvious, TFM was more couture, elegant gowns with dark undertones, but BTW is more grungy, scientific (with her whole Pegasus things on her face, the egg, birth on stage) look with dark undertones, if that makes sense. BTW is more sci-fi than TFM was.
What we, as fans, have gotten used to is her crazy outfits - that's just her niche. Every popstar has a niche, so it's not like she's the only one. The BTW era has been different enough even with the outfits, especially music-wise. People only say she's gotten boring because her chart runs have gotten boring for her singles from the album - & MTN has made people think the entire era was a flop (a delusion). The sales are fine & prove her selling power.

Amazing post.
I agree.
We know Gaga's style(which changes throughout the eras).

This. 5.5m WW already. Who else except Adele currently ?
If she is becoming boring, why would Nicki, Katy and all the other gurls put something weird on their head and body ?
i just dont get it .. is it a double standard against Gaga ?
It is obvious public won't get that shock anymore since Gaga did so many weird stuff before - Meat dress, pyro bra and the egg vessel..
that's why she is inventing herself again with more serious message - BTW.

I wouldn't necessarily say she's getting boring, but she is definitely getting stale. She tries too hard to get attention and it just doesn't work anymore because people are growing tired of her gimmicks.

The music she created on 'Born this way' is what she really wanted to do.

I completely agree with you, I should of mentioned i was talking about her image. As far as i know Born this way is the music she wants to create, which is great. Her image is just to off putting in my opinion. The fames fashion was on point. image is also a big part of a career. To me its bad when the artist's "image' overshadows the music. People start to say "oh its that one celebrity that dresses strange, or is to sexual" for example. THey forget the music and focus more on the celebrity. I think this is what happened during the BTW era.

He does though. What makes you think he doesn't? not saying he's a massive fan or even heavily listens to her music but he does respect her talent and what she stands for.

All of our favorite popstars that one quality about them that is predictable. Sometimes it's with image, sometimes it's with music, & sometimes with performances.

Yes, at first her stunts felt fresh and exciting because in a post-Britney pop world, that was not how people expected popstars to behave. Her 2009 VMA performance is one example.
Now her "shock" tactics have become expected and she has gone so far that I don't really consider her a popstar anymore. Maybe a shockstar, but one who fails to shock.
Perhaps the only way Lady Gaga can surprise us again is by reverting back to popstar - in the traditional sense.

Yes. Honestly, sometimes it feels like she has become a parody of herself.

I was actually laughing at it as a whole. I just know they typed that with the most sincere gleam in their eyes. Not the statement cause I don't know Obama's thoughts and what he likes. Cause he quite possibly could.

My point exactly. People care more about what celebrity, politician gaga is hanging around with instead of the music. Her celebrity is overshadowing her music.
The fame/monster was more about her music, thats why i believe it was so successful musically.
Born this way while successful, was overshadowed by her celebrity. People cared more about her celebrity, clothing or other none musical doings.
She has plenty of respect in the industry and politics for good doings.
But the general public is begining to see her as a gimmick/celebrity.
Therefor overlooking the music.

Like someone else said.
The only time Gaga would shock me, is the day she walks outside in jeans and a t-shirt.

Well, Born this way and the era as a whole is politically driven starting with stepping up and fighting for equality and her mission to kill Prop 8. The music isn't as successful as her past albums but one must keep in mind that this album isn't commercial friendly either, it's not a album you would expect from a mainstream pop star and Gaga knew that while making it, she took a risk with this album. Gaga doesn't make music for hit records. It's much deeper than that. Of course she cares about her singles being a success but it's not a top priority either.
