I'm not gonna downplay her achievements because they truly are remarkable. But I feel like, aside from the incident, her songs will be more remembered than she will.

She hasn't done anything iconic yet. But she's still fresh in the game (this is her sixth year?), and no one gets the ICON title thrown around until they've proven their longevity. Sure, Lady GaGa has had some "iconic" moments, but I wouldn't say she's an "icon". If Rihanna continues releasing mega-successful singles from 2015-2020, then I would be less wary throwing out the "icon" label in regards to her. Or she could slay us with an amazing live performance. That would help.

Rihanna is the perfect example of a pop star with a lot of hits and nice WW album sales but it stops there. Umbrella is the only iconic thing she's done so far but I don't really see it as an iconic thing, it was just an enormous hit WW.

I was basing my post off the mess I was reading in the Taylor VS Rihanna thread. Like one stan said Taylor only sold a lot of albums or whatever but that doesn't make her iconic. But I was thinking that's the same thing with Rih. But I'm quite confident that stan isn't the brightest apple from the tree. I guess all I see her is just as a pop star nothing more nothing less so nothing she has done has been memorable to me.

Rihanna has to put her achievements all together from 6 albums to be considered iconic when other did it with ONE ALBUM and sometimes ONE SONG or VIDEO.

No artist is iconic only from one album. They may have iconic albums, songs, videos, but they aren't iconic just because of one singular thing. You are reaching with that last paragraph. Rihanna has consistently put out HITS for 5 years and she aint stopping soon. Quit beating around the bush by mentioning Perry, **** outta here.

Icon is someone who sets trends, changes the face of music etc. Rihanna has done none of that.
