Funny that you picked out Tamar, I've been watching Braxton Family Values recently and see a lot of similarities between her and the Braxton sisters. Their huge personalities are received pretty well in the US, which something Alex struggles with at home, so I'm hoping she can achieve similar reception.
Good to hear about her manager and new label. Syco really let her down.
Well I stan for Tamar probably because she is a bit similar to Alex, but they are a bit different as artists. I knew Tamar would do well even before her album came out, and I hope Alex follows her. I've always thought with Alex that she is one of those that will slow burn and eventually become bigger. Pretty much what happened with Tamar.
Syco were crap. There are strong rumors actually that 1D pretty much consume all their resources, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca also hinted at this as well. Cher also left Syco.
RCA may not have been the best decision, but I'm glad Alex is free totally of Syco. She could well pull a Kelly Clarkson and become the first contestant to be successful outside of the Syco label.
She has recorded some pop songs recently though. A snippet of a song Pitbull feat. Alexandra Burke - Shots For The DJ leaked, and that song is a JAM. I'm not sure I can post a link here so Google it and you will find it. I love that song so much, I hope a full version is released at some point.
If you have the list of demos that I can go google and listen to later that would be much appreciated

LOL Syco wasn't even a thing back in 2002. Kelly and most American Idol Contestants don't even end up under Syco Records

I hope you're right, Alex seems determined to make it work just like Tamar was. She's got all the talent and a genuine love for music, so I really hope this works out for her.
I have no doubt those Syco rumours are true. The endless releasing of new 1D material/merchanise compared to the minimal promo for everyone else is ridiculous. She's better off without them.

There's quite a few but I'll just list some standout ones
Before It Explodes (feat. Bruno Mars)
Light of the Dreamer
Starlight
The Music Sounds Better (Stargate Remix)
Perfect Mistake
More (with DJ Rune RK)
Turbulence
With Or Without You (U2 cover)
Live and Let Die (Wings cover for The X Factor USA)
Shots For The DJ (Pitbull feat. Alexandra Burke)
Tonight (featuring INNA)

Yeah but she was signed to S Records which is what Syco was called back then. Simon Cowell was still involved and tried to control her.
Thanks for the list, although Tonight was on her album as a solo. The solo one is one of the most played songs from Alexandra from my last fm ever!
Oh I forgot about S Records
I know, Tonight was the only song to leak from Heartbreak on Hold. It leaked quite a while before in demo form, Alex said "DJ Smash, AB" during the drop which is removed in the album version.
There is also an INNA solo version which she recorded after Alex's version went to #1 in Greece with no promo. And there is also a Lauren Bennett (from G.R.L) version as well.

The ep was nothing short of downright horrible. R&B should be her main aim, but she'd rather go for quality urban r&B and not the filler-y kind of slow jams that don't highlight the distinctiveness of her voice. If This Ain't Go (an unreleased cut from '10) was definitely the right direction to go in terms of how her voice should be presented in a song, I thought it had that fierce Toni Braxton quality to it, not to mention the song is a bop.
I'm just trying to figure out how she can have a hit in the US and what format is she going to sell herself to in terms of Radio Formats? I'm hoping for more Rhythmic/Pop sounding songs since they do well as Beyonce and Rihanna have done well in that genre
Basically that route. Like a cross between Ariana and Tamar, except she can dance, so they need to have bops there. I think there will be an uptempo single at some point as she debuted in the US with this:
The link to the full video has gone But any whom, she slayed as per. I remember seeing Alex live, and I was sad, because I knew Syco would let her fall. She needs a good budget and a strong team, same for Leona too. They have the talent, but the money always HAS to be there.
But yeah, post in the base when we hear the single, and then spam ATRL It worked for the EP, despite the EP not being great quality. I do want vocals like on the EP (although better and properly mastered), she was truly sanging (Which is what I think she means by early Whitney vibes - when Whit started out her voice was crisp, smooth yet powerful and controlled), so this:
I NEED this girl to slay. I really do. She has to lead with her voice, as she never really got props for it after XF in the UK.
