Obviously Rihanna. There is no competetion.
Beyonce has the Grammys and talent, but Rihanna has the people.
Rihanna is the only worlwide competition Gaga has.

Rihanna is so huge here
Beyonce is kind of big as well, but radio plays Rihanna non stop here, like seriously. I didn't know Man Down was a big hit here as well

I can't at all the delusion flooding this thread. Coming from a non-stan of either artist, i can comfortably say that Beyonce is the bigger star by miles. By star, I mean someone whose name is known around the world for what they do and what they embody. Beyonce has become a household name all over the world (I don't care if she currently isn't seeing the same amount of success that Rihanna is seeing with her generic, disposable tunes). 20 years from now, Beyonce will still have respect and praise that the likes of Aretha Franklin and Janet Jackson have; her legacy will live on. She has become a brand of her own- she represents so much more than just music. Rihanna on the other hand, while popular, will remain popular solely for her catchy songs that people enjoy at the club. Rihanna is to Beyonce as Paula Abdul was to Madonna!
There is a huge difference in being a hitmaker and being a star, and I'd say that Rihanna is a hitmaker, and Bey is a star.

Where did you get that from? They are both stars because they have built a brand around their name, they have a legacy that will never die, they will always be in the spotlight. I think you were confused as to why I only put Janet and Aretha as artists with legacies; I was just listing a couple examples is all! Didn't feel the need to list every artist that I feel is a huge star.

Because the only argument you said is that Beyonce is known arould the world.
The two of them are musicians, both release popular music; but the most popular around the world is Rihanna. Deal.

It is so nice of you to write such a novel about how beyonce is bigger than rihanna, yet you don't even possess 1 verifiable argument. Ciao

To be honest, Beyoncé is an amazing performer. She is amazingly talented. However, I find her incredibly boring these days. People act as if she is some sort of goddess though. Rihanna's music is way more fun and she is so unpredictable. She changes her image every era, goes for a new sound and plays it up a little. For this generation, Rihanna will be the bigger star.

Basically, Beyoncé is always going to be the most well known. Well known, in the sense that NOBODY is going to be forgetting Beyoncé's name.
Throughtout Bey's active career, there may be acts that pop up that experience great success, but at the end of the day, years to come, it's always going to be Beyoncé who's name is remembered.
This is the truth: Out of all the popstars, Bey's name will be most remebered. Followed by Britney. The rest will be lucky to be remembered, and I doubt they will.

Vice versa is untrue.
Don't forget about those who knew Beyoncé's name from the DC days, but are presently at the stage in their life where they don't bother themselves with pop music, in which case, while they might have heard Rihanna's name, they don't know or care about her.
Therefore, while if you know Rihanna, you know Beyoncé, the vice versa is not true.

Britney will more likely be remembered before Beyonce and if we are going by your logic about people knowing Beyonce from her DC days, the same can be applied to the kids in kindergarten - elementary school who know Rihanna but have an idea of who Beyonce is but dont care about her songs as she is not as popular as she used to be.
