Exactly. I remember clearly as if it was yesterday when people were saying that after Glamorous Fergie never had any more hits on the album. They never expected BGDC to smash because of how radio was like at the time. With everybody releasing dance/pop uptempos right now Im glad shes deciding to slow things down with a ballad.
i have to say though, BGDC was better, it has a better, chanty hook... CKB is a bit more boring, but i love the guitar and the bridge and the verses, just wish the chorus was a bit better
Still I think it will do good, top 10 and stabilize album sales, but i don't see it go n.1 because not everyone loves it like they did BGDC.
Especially, CKB will be bigger in USA and English based countries and won't do much in continental Europe. After CKB they need to go with Man Down to appeal to Europe, the Fading (also potentially big in Europe) and end with Cheers for NYE 2011-2012

Anyway, this song will SMASH. This was the song i was rooting for so not only am i'm satified peronally, but also because it's simply the best choice. It's offers a much needed break from the high octane sound of OG and SMN, and is absolutely perfect for spring / summer weather. Who else but Rihanna could make a ballad happen amidst this dance craze plague

Nope. I actually created the "BGDC" -- 4th single thread, and it got great response.
It and "All That I Got" were fan favorites. Ballads are enjoyed, when they possess some quality.

California King Bed is a song any Rihanna fan would at least like, it's radio-friendly, and adds a little variety to the Loud campaign.

Just thank God she never went with Cheers or Fading. I love those 2 but they can come after to stabilize album sales. i need diversity and CKB is that type of song to satisfy me.
