Thanks for your patience, everyone. I'm sorry this hasn't happened yet, but I've had a bit of trouble pulling all of the testimonials together. I'm still waiting on Ace to send his write-up for "Showtime," and nobody has agreed yet to do "Glow" or "Wait For You." So if you'd like to put together something for either of those songs, please let me know!
Thank you to the 29 voters who joined me in celebrating the 10th anniversary of Loose! It's been wonderful revisiting this pop masterpiece to discover that it still holds up and hearing your thoughts on what makes it so excellent. The ballots are tabulated and the tracks definitively ranked, so without further ado, let's get to the countdown...
Average rank: 10.33 Highest rank: #5 (HandsOn, DTF)
Tucked away at the end of Loose is a rehash of the Juanes duet “Te Busqué” that translates its English-language verses into Spanish…and then leaves intact the spoken-word middle eight. Why not convert that part, too? Or cut it from the song? Or simply title this the “Spanglish Version”? Or, better yet, leave it off the album altogether? Anything would have made more sense than what Nelly actually did. It’s not so much bad as entirely unnecessary.

”Te Busqué” is a personal highlight for me because it is one of the more melancholic songs from the albums. I was having a rough personal time when I discovered the album back in 2008-2009 and I remember how the more downtempo songs more or less were my spiritual bread and butter. The song's melody and production are masterful. Although I don't care for the duet version, the Spanish version feels infinitely more meaningful than its English counterpart, even though I am far from fluent in Spanish. Buy “Te Busqué” on iTunes.
The original is vastly superior to me, thanks to nostalgia. It was a huge hit here in 2006, just like Fotografía had been in the early 00s, but it was the version with the verses in English. I always end up skipping the spanish version when I listen to Loose, it just doesn't compare.
