Hmm not true at all. See everyone from Whitney to elvis to nina simone to beyonce herself having done great songs with raw and honest lyrics that resonates with them but they didn't write it.

We're talking about Formation. Formation is only on Tidal. She'd be more than happy to put her stuff on Spotify and Apple Music if it wasn't for Jay-Z failed business.

I was referring to her material as a whole when I said, "and give in to other streaming services".
I don't think so, as she had already showed disdain for streaming and the direction the industry is going in, anyway, hence her releasing the way she does now, and only making it available on Tidal because they paid what she thought an artist deserves per stream in comparison to the other services. ST wasn't even on streaming services other than AM for over a year. I don't even know if Lemonade will be on other streaming services, ever.

I just think she needed to do way more than putting a song on Tidal for free if she wanted to save it. If it was a paid exclusive, or even if they made people sign up for a free trial to stream the song, I would believe in you.

This has been obvious for years to anyone who pays attention to her career. Beyoncé actively and deliberately sabotages her singles, does not go on promo rounds, delays VEVO premieres, etc. Dislike her, but don't be delusional. Beyoncé does not care about hits and her self-sabotaging behavior proves that. Formation could've EASILY hit #1 with a bare-bones single rollout.
And for those of you who think she wants hits but is being restricted by TIDAL... please think about how that doesn't make sense. TIDAL exclusives are one thing, not promoting your music at all is another.
It's not even that hard to believe. She's going on record breaking tours, selling millions of albums and creating important political/social discussion WITHOUT "hits". Why would she care about them if she's doing immensely well without them? For bragging rights? I'm genuinely curious to why people think she HAS to want hits and the idea of her not caring about them is so otherworldly.

Bey doesn't promote?
Between 2013 and 2016 she performed at the SB TWICE and performed her entire albums at the VMAS TWICE!
Let's not even talk about the 3 back to back tours

I'm convinced that Beyonce haters have no lives, why are you so perched up in this thread, pointless post after post, just blowing up that post count over a woman you clearly don't like.
Beyonce does not NEED hits anymore, hits are promotion for ALBUMS, and seeing as she has the best selling record released this year, she's good. She also just completed a sold out STADIUM tour, she doesn't need hits it's not that deep.

That is, in fact, self-sabotage at its finest.

Do you mean to tell me Beyoncé didn't offered future competition her streams ? Cause obviously. Wasn't BEYONCE a Tidal exclusive for a while too ?

She'll probably put Lemonade on other streaming services once the album is done and the exclusivity has no value anymore for Tidal.

No, she doesn't.
The fact that you mentioned those four performances, two of which were YEARS ago(and two promo stints in comparison to a regular artist in the industry promoting for months ), to prove your point.

Perhaps, but by then the hype will have died down, and she couldn't be concerned about it somehow reinvigorating a song to become a hit.

Anyways I personally dont think Beyoncé needs hit songs at this point.. She has way too many classics (including the ones with DC)

Sure, that's not my point. My point is it's not that she doesn't care about hits, it's that she's embarked in Tidal's messiness with Jay-Z hence her lack of hits because she doesn't have any streams. It's not that she doesn't care, it's that Jay-Z (and her by at least agreeing, following him) made a wrong business choice

Believable since the music she releases don't even sound good enough to be album tracks.

She's the first woman to have 12 songs debut on the Hot 100, even with the self sabotage. She has "hits", and didn't need streaming services for them to succeed. She's sold millions of singles this era alone. She could be selling more, but she doesn't care about having hits. We can go back and forth on this, but it mainly comes down to you not wanting to believe she doesn't care. She says she doesn't. You can't say she means otherwise when her actions show different, and can't read her mind.
And if it turns out to be for the bad in the end (Tidal), I'm sure all the artist who are involved will be fine. You take L's in life, it doesn't defeat or end you. They're still rich and able. And they wouldn't be the first, or last, to have a business venture fail or not perform as hoped.

This is old tea. She hasn't cared since 2009-2010.
