No she's juat bland and boring now. Can't believe it's Lady Gaga, the one i stanned for since 08. I was rooting for her but her new stuff is just horrible.
I don't really find it that risky to go classic rock. In general I wouldn't say it's risky to rely on mimicking past styles as that's always going to be easier to digest and have nostalgia on your side.
That being said, in the pop world doing songs that don't really click with pop audiences is risky in itself.
Lol. She toned down her image because the extra mess she was doing got annoying and was no longer working. Where's the "risk" in that? If she'd made this change in 2009/2010 then you'd have a case.
Right now she is not building a respectful legacy but destroying what she had achieved from 2009-2011. Literally not a single song we have heard so far from Joanne has the power to build legacy. To destroy legacy? Yes. To build? No. You build legacy with songs that are universally accepted and loved- like Poker Face, Bad Romance, The Edge of Glory. I am not saying that she needs to make this kind of songs for the rest of her career. You build a legacy with albums like The Fame Monster- liked by everyone- fans and critics. Yet again, I am not saying she has to make albums with this sound for the rest of her career.
You said 'she needs to lose some to win some'
Ever since Joanne era started she has been losing fans and not winning some. Hence why Perfect Illusion flopped and basically no one cared about it but the Monsters even tho a big part of them did not like it.
Regarding the thread title, No, Joanne is not a brave reinvention. Its just bad music. You can reinvent yourself and not jump in another music genre. You can reinvent yourself by still making pop songs. She basically reinvented herself after The Fame with Bad Romance. It sounded nothing like the singles from The Fame, yet it was loved by the GP and is seen as a classic Gaga song. Maybe she will have more luck next time. Sadly, she really had the hype this time and people were rooting for her
Pretty much my feelings on her new sound. I just will have to stick with her old albums I guess. Why such a drastic change? Smh
In a way, Gaga always made fearless pop music and now this is a completely new direction for her (well in some regards) and she's taking a huge risk with this record which I'm sure will pay off.
All she did is attach herself to another genre and pretend she has been a connoisseur for years while the only thing she did was read the first page google results of whatever she's trying to do.
She just toned down her image
I was really looking forward to this era but she is coming off 10x more annoying than the ARTPOP one
