I thought Jackie was going to miss this award season. I really wish it had. Best Actress is already so competitive without an amazing Portman performance added to the mix.


Adams, Bening, Chastain, Davis, Huppert, Mara, Negga, Portman, Stone.

And we can't count out perennial nominees Streep and Lawrence.

I was worried it would be Grace of Monaco/Diana'd too. It would be a v. bad idea for them to push it back for next year though. Jackie is an American icon and the movie will (hopefully) be released during an election year. Major hype.

JLaw won't get nominated for "Passengers".
It seems like the movie will have higher quality acting than it's usual for a Sci-Fi movie, but still, the Leading Actress category is too competitive this year for her to snatch a nomination with this kind of role.

Her next nomination will likely be for her performance in the upcoming Darren Aronofsky movie.

None of the movies listed (the buzzed ones) are out now in cinemas A mess haha. Sully will be released this weekend. And unless otherwise you're one of those folks attending film festivals all over the world then you can basically catch some like La La Land, Manchester by the Sea, Arrival, Nocturnal Animals, Moonlight etc. TIFF is starting soon, and if you're around the area then you're really lucky They'll be released to theaters around November & December.

Some films like Billy Lynn won't premier until NYFF and films like Silence still have no dates.

Edit: And if you're one like me where my theaters generally don't show Oscar materials, then you'll have to wait for the screeners season. The quality sucks a bit but I got no choice otherwise I won't be able to watch any of these films until after the ceremony when they're released on DVD.

Well, screeners season is like my favorite time of the year. It's always a rush to watch all the buzzed films. The movies don't usually premiere here either so I guess I'll wait then

I'm super pumped for La La Land and Moonlight and pretty much every single release.

It hasn't been formally distributed yet. It'll probably be bought by Fox Searchlight. There is no way they'll sit this politically themed movie out when the current election is probably one of the most entertaining (horror) in modern times.
