This singer at 30 years old made her chart presence felt with the top 3 smash for Phantom Of My Heart. This girl showcased her talents and this song has a few remixes to it. Take the time to check it out if you can and decide if you like the remix or the original better. If you like Shakira, you might just like Otero.
HIGHER:She made a solid effort throughout the year with consistency. You can make a case for her being top 50.
LOWER:Maybe slightly lower and put it behind Etheridge, Marit or Bomshel...
59. Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man (Chart:#60, Airplay:#59, Fans:#59, Votes:19,452)

Hailing from the UK, these folk rockers came to the states armed with this first single Little Lion Man and got the attention of many. Currently sits inside the top 50 in my airplay list and got to the top 5 this year on my endchart. There's a lot of talent brewing in these guys.
HIGHER/LOWER:Just about right.
58. Paramore - The Only Exception (Chart:#58, Airplay:#58, Fans:#58, Votes:19,970)

For 4 years this band has been making an impact on the charts. In 2007 they were a somewhat contender with Misery Business and Crushcrushcrush, they hit their stride a bit with Decode the following year, and this year brought Ignorance and The Only Exception, with the latter being Paramore's only endchart showing this year. Still, this song is very slow and did very well on the charts....but on my charts, not even close to the success their previous hits had.
HIGHER:Longevity overall.
LOWER:Because it didn't hit #1 as was expected, you have to take some pts away. But still, the band nabs another top 60 finish on the endchart. 2011 brings Playing God as their opening to the year, will that get them back to elite?
57. Sophia Melon - In A While (Chart:#56, Airplay:#57, Fans:#57, Votes:20,690)

The Ex-guitarist of KSM left the band in April to pursue college, but before that she tore up the chart in her own right by having 2 strong contending songs. In A While checks in at #56 and hit #2 on the airplay while staying very consistent spending 35 weeks on the countdown. KSM had a big impact with each member shining as a group, and as soloists.
HIGHER:3 times she was top 7 on my countdown so you can make the case she should be higher, a lot of airplay too.
LOWER:Given the fact it had no actual video, she did the best she could.
56. Stephanie Brownlee - Good Friend/Girlfriend (Chart:#57, Airplay:#56, Fans:#56, Votes:20,835)

MUSIC LINK: http://www.myspace.com/stephaniebrownleehttp://www.stephaniebrownlee.com.auhttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Stepha...e/337811014406
The 2nd single from Stephanie Brownlee to chart showcased its muscle early in the run, but it's hard to live up to the success of your lead-off single. Took it to the top 5 early on and stayed a contender for over 20 weeks. Built a lot of airplay too. Also the 2nd of 3 top 100 appearances from her as she and Carrie are the only artists with 3 top 100 songs this year on the endchart. This is the first time ever 2 Country artists shared the most top 100 appearances on the endchart.
HIGHER:Talented lady could easily be top 50 with this song on the list.
LOWER:Because she stumbled after reaching its peak, you can say it should be 80ish.
55. Goo Goo Dolls - Home (Chart:#54, Airplay:#55, Fans:#55, Votes:21,310)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRXpbZMfG_0
MUSIC LINK: http://www.googoodolls.com/http://www.myspace.com/googoodolls
The Goo, like Bon Jovi have been making an impact for 2 decades now. This song got them back to the big time and Home has quite an interesting video. Don't believe me? You find out for yourself.
HIGHER/LOWER:No reason.
54. Kris Allen - The Truth (Chart:#55, Airplay:#53, Fans:#54, Votes:21,596)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8y4Ajauu-Y
MUSIC LINK: http://www.krisallenofficial.com/http://www.myspace.com/krisallen
The American Idol 8 winner checks in for the first time on the endchart at #54. In total there are 3 Idol winners on this year's top 100. The Truth pairs Kris up with Pat Monahan of Train and the two were a force together by topping the airplay chart once on a minor outlet, and on the major outlet it was top 10 a lot. Also top 10 on my countdown at one point.
HIGHER:While it is no Live Like We're Dying, this song did well in its own right. Good airplay.
LOWER:None.
53. Bon Jovi - Superman Tonight (Chart:#53, Airplay:#54, Fans:#53, Votes:21,950)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9k-k8609go

The legendary band from New Jersey continued to roll as they have their 25th song make the top 100 on the endchart. Superman Tonight continues the tradition these guys have been doing for well over 2 decades, by showing lots of airplay and consistency.
HIGHER:Long-time longevity.
LOWER:No reason.
52. Dilana - My Drug (Chart:#52, Airplay:#52, Fans:#52, Votes:22,311)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJGf7fFKKQk
MUSIC LINK: http://www.myspace.com/dilanaroxhttp://www.dilana-robichaux.com/
OK so some of you may know her as the one who was runner-up on that Rockstar:Supernova show. She is doing just fine on her own merit as her song My Drug checks in at #52 for the year. Now you would think that she's a young newcomer who is about to become a star and could go places, but turns out she's actually old enough to be your mother...yeah, she has been around for about 15 years or so. I thought she was 20-something but I guess I was fooled. Anyway, she's talented and she did very well on the countdown spending 7 total weeks in the top
10 and was very high on the airplay.
HIGHER:A lot of airplay and countdown success should equal top 30.
LOWER:Considering this didn't have a music video either, she did the best she could. Didn't hit #1.
51. Lauren Light - Get Me Out (Chart:#51, Airplay:#51, Fans:#51, Votes:22,506)

This girl is young and has a lot of talent. I will keep my eye on her and you should too. Fans of Norah Jones might just like her. She has that raw talent and the energy.
HIGHER:None
LOWER:Airplay wasn't consistent.

The top 50 is still being worked on so give it a bit of time. If tentatives hold, we'll take a look at the first of two from two killer artists, another look at an Idol winner and a band whose lead singer has quite a fanbase for her solo work in her own right.
Shelby:Hey folks, Shelby here again filling in for Mike who went to go campaign for his band friends' in their contest. We are gonna give you something wicked. This is the top 40 songs in the IDRL era (1996-2010) from male/female groups. We've never done anything like this before so enjoy the madness. If you need a refresher course, there's always Youtube for that. Several of this year's heavyweights are on along with some of your all-time faves and those guilty pleasures (Scene 23 for example)
Shelby:Coming up next, more best of decade stuff with the top 50 artists who've done the best since 2000. Then we will get to the top 20 songs by International artists of the year, the top 40 songs that didn't make the top 100 on the endchart...and then, we finally get to the top 50 of the endchart. Stay tuned, it's getting good!
Shelby:Shelby here back for more. Mike's still out and about. Now on this list we look at who did the best in the last decade. We're looking at every angle as far as the chart aspect of it goes. My group is on here, but where? I don't think we'll be #1 because we did hit it big just this year.
NOTE:If a group applies, then it counts for all their members and the group's work.

One Step Closer to Waiting For The End, the band just keeps rolling along. Ashley Tisdale is #2 but not by much. Kiss The Girl started it all and it worked all the way from the Headstrong era to the Guilty Pleasure era. The top 10 rounds out with Disney alums Aly & A.J. at #4, Aussie singer/actress Stephanie McIntosh at #5, Canadian singer Lights at #6, the tandem of M2M w/Marion and Marit at #7, Sugababes and Girls Aloud tied at #8, British songstress Natasha Bedingfield at #9 and Aussie song-writer Delta Goodrem at #10.

THE TOP 50 OF 2010 50. Tamar Kaprelian - New Day (Chart:#42, Airplay:#43, Fans:#41, Votes:57,748)

She had her music featured on an ABC Family show and there are 2 versions of this video here. She won a contest in March 2008 for the 'Apologize' cover and some more notes include this. As a reward for that win and according to Wiki, Ryan Tedder helped bring her to the attention of Interscope Records which signed her shortly afterward. WAX LTD produced her song "New Day," which went on to be her first single, and expects to release her first album Sinner or a Saint on Interscope records some time in late 2010. Good thing she entered that contest, this girl is good. Album has since been released and I hoped you picked up a copy.
SHIFT:Pre-draft had her #43 but after last-minute adjustments, Tamar fell to #50.
HIGHER:Would be higher if all things were equal. Should be top 30 though.
LOWER:This girl doesn't have too much consistency but she will learn.
49. Holly Hardin - Heart (Chart:#24, Airplay:#25, Fans:#21, Votes:61,619)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q-zsQ4VqCU (no Heart video, but check this vid from her)
MUSIC LINK: http://www.myspace.com/hollyhardin
The famous guitar girl made it to Hollywood on Idol and although she didn't win, she is another of the many Idol contestants who made an impact this year. Heart is her first song and this went top 5 on the chart, #3 on airplay and had a lot of play. Some notes on her include not only her American Idol appearance, but also appeared on America's Got Talent.
SHIFT:Pre-draft things looked good as she was set at #24, but tumbled in votes and ends up #49.
HIGHER:This song has an addicting chorus that you'll want to play over and over.
LOWER:The problem is that she didn't build off the success of this with any other songs. That hurt her down the stretch with no top 100 appearances on any list since September 25th.
48. Frentik - The Edge (Chart:#50, Airplay:#46, Fans:#45, Votes:63,960)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMb8nVwf5XE

Emily Jaye was a young blond girl when she was growing up and she had visions of becoming a singer. She realized that dream when her band Frentik was formed and they started to chug out some music. This song is the first of 2 from the band on this list with The Edge at #48. These guys know how to rock it and you will want to listen, period! 2011 here they come.
SHIFT:No change in position, still #48
HIGHER:Hit #1 in airplay several times on the daily airplay. Also topped early in the year and topped the weekly airplay once. Should be top 10.
LOWER:None.
47. Orianthi - Shut Up And Kiss Me (Chart:#44, Airplay:#47, Fans:#49, Votes:64,100)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RJucof-v78
MUSIC LINK: http://www.orianthi.com/http://www.last.fm/music/Orianthihttp://www.myspace.com/orianthi
This year's Best New Artist IMO, Orianthi rocked the house with authority and lit up the charts throughout the year. This is only the first of 2 from her on this list and her now famous jam will be shown later. Those who forget, she was featured on Michael Jackson's This Is It concert film. Oh and you'll usually see her shredding the guitar so don't challenge her to a guitar playing contest, she'll win with ease.
SHIFT:She was #49, but moved to #47.
HIGHER:With the growing fanbase she has, you will want to think she is now in the class of the elite. Very good airplay and solid stats.
LOWER:The appeal is great, but some say this song was a letdown compared to the juggernaut of According To You.
45. Sara Westbrook - Love Crusade (Chart:#40, Airplay:#31, Fans:#33, Votes:68,450)

If you want to start a love crusade, she's your girl. Sara Westbrook is a talented singer/song-writer and motivational speaker. She writes some columns called My Voice, Your Choice and is a must-read if you search the archives. Music-wise, this song hit top 10 on airplay and the countdown.
SHIFT:Sara's hearts couldn't keep her position solid, thus she falls to #45.
HIGHER/LOWER:None
44. Carrie Underwood - Undo It (Chart:#47, Airplay:#49, Fans:#50, Votes:72,305)

The 2nd of 3 from Carrie Underwood checks in at #44 this year. Carrie has become a very strong musician and countdown contender over the last few years. You have to simply love what she has done. This song Undo It was the 3rd single and the video wasn't exactly perfect, but efficient. Carrie is <3 She's won a lot of Grammy awards.
SHIFT:Was #50 but thanks to good votes, she is up to #44.
HIGHER:Carrie's consistency can crush challenging contenders. Try saying that 5 times fast.
LOWER:Because this couldn't do what Cowboy Casanova did, you can't put this higher or lower than this spot.
43. Dreamkiller - Surrender (Chart:#49, Airplay:#50, Fans:#48, Votes:76,999)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEfUjbV7Stc

Christy Johnson has a strong following and her band is very versatile too. Their music tells a story with some interesting songs like All Or Nothing and Ragnarok. But the breakout song comes in the form of Surrender. The vocals are solid and the band can pull off some crazy things. I should know, I HAVE THEIR CD AND THESE GUYS ROCK! Christy and the band mailed me a poster and their latest CD.
SHIFT:Was #47 but because of the buzz and continued support, #43 is where they wind up.
HIGHER:Great airplay
LOWER:None.
42. Elisa Schwartz - Like Lightning (Chart:#48, Airplay:#48, Fans:#47, Votes:78,405)

MUSIC: http://www.myspace.com/elisaschwartzhttp://www.emusic.com/artist/Elisa-S.../12700912.html
I don't think she has Like Lightning up anymore. Anyway, this girl continues to show her consistency by making the year-end top 100 for the 3rd year in a row and finishes top 50 for the 2nd straight year. While not her most successful ever, this was her biggest airplay hit by topping the airplay chart once and the daily airplay several times.
SHIFT:#46 was projected but she winds up #42.
HIGHER:None.
LOWER:Struggled early, struggled late. Good consistency but never was a serious countdown threat.
41. Kimberly Caldwell - Heart Like Mine (Chart:#30, Airplay:#30, Fans:#30, Votes:82,140)

MUSIC: http://www.kimberly-caldwell.com/http://www.myspace.com/kimberlycaldwellofficial
The former American Idol 2 contestant and notable TV Guide reporter bounced her way back into music and scored a monster hit with Heart Like Mine. This song is powerful so it's a definite must-listen.
SHIFT:Was #29, but tumbled to #41.
HIGHER:Good airplay.
LOWER:Lack of video support.
VIDEO BREAK:This was a notable that missed the cut.
We are inside the top 40! Another recap coming tomorrow.
40. Kelly Harper - Charm City (Chart:#38, Airplay:#40, Fans:#40, Votes:86,000)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cytSI5qD36I
MUSIC: http://www.myspace.com/kellymharperhttp://www.kellyharperrock.com/
The power Kelly provides is a mystery. This singer has a load of talent, a passion for music and a vision for success. Being this as her breakout chart hit, she set a statement with 34 weeks on my countdown including a stint at #2. What does 2011 hold for her? Stay tuned.
SHIFT:Was #36 but after adjusting, she's #40 now.
HIGHER:What can you say? She has the gift.
LOWER:None.

VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF0HhrwIwp0
MUSIC: http://www.kingsofleon.com/http://www.myspace.com/kingsofleon
SHIFT:Had been #44, but adjustments put them #39.
This is the last song on the list that was a carryover from last year. They made a comeback with Sex On Fire after the success of Use Somebody which was last year's #1 song on the end-chart. Since SOF debuted, KOL has had every single chart.
HIGHER:Strong airplay.
LOWER:Ran out of gas after logging in time last year.
38. Shannon Nicole - Waiting To Shine (Chart:#37, Airplay:#38, Fans:#35, Votes:90,134)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt7tmRYJiHU (No video for Waiting To Shine but check this again)
MUSIC: http://www.shannonnicole.comhttp://www.myspace.com/rockershannonnicole
Shannon Nicole's ready to show America who is the boss, to the best she can be. While she may not have the fanbases compared to heavy-weights like Carrie and Ashley, Shannon can do just fine on her own accord. Buses And Trains got things started a couple years back, and she shined again with Waiting To Shine which topped the weekly countdown twice and hit #1 on the weekly airplay twice. This girl is one to watch.
SHIFT:Not much of a shift, was #39 but moved to #38.
HIGHER:Would be top 10 if this song impacted at the start of the year.
LOWER:None really. This song had no weaknesses on the chart run.
37. Kat Nestel - Crazy Over Here (Chart:#34, Airplay:#37, Fans:#37, Votes:92,567)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...&v=pK4BURwlAdU (no video for Crazy Over Here, but here's another one)
MUSIC: http://www.facebook.com/itskatsmusichttp://www.myspace.com/itskatsmusic
One of the Idol contestants to make a strong statement and to prove something is Kat Nestel. This sassy guitarist/singer showed up in a big way with Crazy Over Here as her first chart hit and she took it to the next level.
SHIFT:Was #34 but slipped and checks in at #37.
HIGHER:Solid airplay early on.
LOWER:Struggled down the stretch, was once very hot.
36. Didi Benami - No Destination (Chart:#39, Airplay:#35, Fans:#31, Votes:95,530)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT5wd92Ztis (Terrified, not No Destination...but enjoy)
MUSIC: http://didibenami.net/http://www.myspace.com/dveredhttp://www.facebook.com/DBenamiAI9
Something to keep in mind, Didi has been through a lot as it is. According to her Wiki entry, 'Benami attended Nashville's Belmont University before moving to California. This move followed the death of her close friend and roommate, Rebecca Joy Lear, in an automobile accident driving from Nashville to her Kansas home during the Christmas holiday of her freshman year. They wrote songs together, mostly on Lear's album, but Benami recently said that she would pursue Lear's music first and would most likely upload Benami version of Lear's songs.' Didi has been on a rollercoaster journey in her music career which went from losing her friend Rebecca, to the emotional ride she faced on Idol finishing 10th. Didi is a star waiting to shine. Music-wise, she started to roll as the year came to a close by currently residing at #34 on airplay.
SHIFT:#38 was the original showing, but now it's #36.
HIGHER/LOWERidi is perfect. No reason to drop her lower than she is. It's not higher because of not enough airplay. Bottom line is, Didi is honoring her friend.
35. Varlet - The Gun (Chart:#18, Airplay:#19, Fans:#24, Votes:95,739)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xF16iAMBOg4
MUSIC: http://www.myspace.com/varlethttp://www.facebook.com/varletmusic
The band from Varlet featured Lilly Scott of American Idol fame. This band showcased their true grit with the success of The Gun and High Heels. Both hit top 5 in the airplay and the countdown and showed that these guys can flex their metal. Keep your eyes out for these guys in 2011.
SHIFT:This took a nasty hit. Dropping from #18 to #35 because of the shift.
HIGHER:Should be much higher but the airplay lagged down the end.
LOWER:Should be 50ish with the lack of quality airplay.
34. Daughtry - Life After You (Chart:#45, Airplay:#47, Fans:#46, Votes:98,567)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvm2OYF2p7E
MUSIC: http://www.daughtryofficial.comhttp://www.myspace.com/daughtry
These guys continued to showcase that they are here to stay and will not let those who doubt them get in their way. Started with It's Not Over and now we're on Life After You and September, they can really rock the house with solid airplay and good music.
SHIFT:Was #45, but the shift helped them greatly. They are now #34 for the year.
HIGHER:Longevity in airplay.
LOWER:Lack of chart success while the song was in radio rotation hurt this bad.
33. The Lost Colors - Turn Around (Chart:#43, Airplay:#41, Fans:#42, Votes:99,991)
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49ABtGwkWX0
MUSIC: http://www.myspace.com/thelostcolorshttp://www.reverbnation.com/thelostcolorshttp://www.ilike.com/artist/The+Lost+Colorshttp://www.facebook.com/thelostcolors
Ellisha and company got off to a very slow start but picked up steam quick as Turn Around rolled all the way to a monster run of 30+ weeks and was rocking the charts for a long time. Their next song is slated to enter the charts next week so can they repeat the success this song has?
SHIFT:Was #42, now #33.
HIGHER:Argument can be made for this being top 10 for the year.
LOWER:Very slow start, but picked up steam late and took the #2 spot in weekly airplay by the time the year ended. Slightly lower maybe?
32. Kelly Fauth - The Start (Chart:#33, Airplay:#33, Fans:#36, Votes:101,356)
MUSIC: http://www.myspace.com/kellyfauthhttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Sparrow/116755838338781
Dear Kelly Fauth, Ashley Tisdale called....she wants her look back. LOL. Don't let the look-alike fool you, Kelly is a badass singer and her band Sparrow is one of the hardest bands to figure out. Check out the music and you can find that out.
SHIFT:#33 was original showing, now it's #32.
HIGHER:Lots of airplay, this was a constant force in airplay.
LOWER:No video to back it up.
