If we're going by Katy's impeccable standards then Unconditionally was obviously an underperformance. However, by normal standards, I'd call a top 15 platinum-selling song that also managed to go platinum in Australia and gold in various European countries, a hit.
I see DWUW was deemed a hit so there's no reason for the more successful Unconditionally not to be deemed one regardless!
