"Firework" has a message (not sure about "deep"), but this is one example of a message not really equaling "substance." I guess Linda has an issue with cookie-cutter, straight-out-of-the-factory music. Not all of it's bad. I happen to love some of it. I'm just hoping she expands on that because I know she can.

And I agree with you. The message behind "Firework" comes off as a little contrived. Maybe it's the plastic bag line that ruins it for me, I don't know. I can understand where Linda is coming from, as I'm also a little fed up with hearing the same **** on the radio. But it is a little hypocritical of her, considering some of the songs she has written.

No hate though, I love Linda.

It still boggles my mind how her vocals somehow work in Firework. That song is NOT made for her vocals, but somehow it doesn't even matter.

Right? "Firework" does not fit her range at all. She barely pulled it off in studio. I think "Teenage Dream" fits her amazingly as well.

Linda has a few crappy songs here and there but for the most part her songwriting/production *****! some of her best work.

When I first listened to TD, ET was definitely the song that stood out; it was a fresh sound.

Katy is capable of doing great things, I wonder what she'll do for her next album..
