The list definitely has some curious choices. The only one I feel truly happy about is Fleetwood Mac.

I think since the list is "influential artists today" they're commenting on the influences they hear in the current alt landscape.

Lorde lists Kanye, Grimes, James Blake, Prince, Burial as influences, also David Bowie, Bon Iver, Diplo and St. Vincent appears to be a favorites of hers. Most likely others in that list too.

I'm not saying it's a perfect list, but most of those names are there for a reason.
