Yes, I am. It's my opinion. Those songs are just songs that didn't make her album and songs from her failed past to me. It's very hard for me to believe those songs were only made for fun.

Personally, I think it's the augmenting principle at full effect. Lorde is "so good" because she is "so young" -- there isn't a doubt in my mind that, if she was Lana's age, they'd both have equal amounts of success as they are both share a lot of similarities:

- They are more experimental than others
- They are excellent song writers
- They both write about idealized life situations AND the darker/harsher things
- Both are passionate about what they are doing

I love Lorde, I got her EP very early on (like, way back in January '12 when it was posted on the /r/FutureBeats subreddit and about 200 views on Royals.) I think she is great, but Lana is on another level for me personally. I don't think "respected" is a word to use here, as there are a TON of people who respect Lana more than Lorde (the UK/US split) but rather "Lorde is more accessible than Lana. Why?" and the answer to that is her age.

She's more respected because she's more talented, has better music and her personality isn't boring. Lana Del Rey, on the other hand, lacks something in her music and it comes off as monotone and bland, hence Lorde was able to get hits and respect in the industry while Lana simply stayed behind, and rightfully so.
