I totally agree with you. It's not like being gay should be claimed, neither insulted, just as normal as being straight actually is. He's saying that he doesn't care about gays or straights so it's ok.

I'd rather he show his support without having to stress how straight he is or make poorly worded half assed statements of "support" . I really don't think that's too much to ask for. It's what every decent human being should be able to do.
