"My Sister, Janet Jackson built her OWN EMPIRE. That was ALL Janet. I had NOTHING to do whatsoever with my Baby Sister's career, But I sure am PROUD of her." - Michael Jackson
Besides the Britney era, where was there blatant Janet-ism? BOMT and OIDIA are stylistically opposite of Janet. ITZ was a mixture of a lot of influences including Madonna, Electro, 007, Bollywood. Blackout was more Timbaland-influenced. Circus was bubble-gum pop with an dance tinge. FF was dance pop with an electro-tinge. And BJ was just awful
"I wanted to be her" "I looked up to her since I was a little girl"
So you've never listened to a Janet album, yet you think you have room to speak. Typical.
ITZ's bollywood influence is found in a few other songs from that time period like Bey's Naughty Girl/Baby Boy, etc. She was following a trend
Timbaland was the hot producer of 2006 with FS/LS. But yet, I'm SUURE Britney reached deep into the pits of Janet's career and was influenced from that too

I mean, if i were a britney stan it'd be somewhat disheartening to know that my fave was mooching off of someone else but that's just me.

Yea, she had no advantage or connections whatsoever. MJ knew damn well.....
Britney Spears wikipedia on Ooh La La (A song released in 2013)
The video premiered on Spears' Vevo channel at 12PM ET on July 11, 2013.[14] MSN Music described the opening scene from the video as an homage to the video for Janet Jackson's "Nasty" video, stating that "the clip plays out like a more kid-friendly version of Janet Jackson's "Nasty" video, with Spears and her kids taking in a movie when mom is suddenly transported into the on-screen action."
Yet Janet's impact ended with In The Zone. That's not to say that Janet's influence didn't lesson over time. Sure, eventually Britney came into her own. But that doesn't negate from the fact that Janet made her career. Consequently as soon as Britney found her own identity(albeit a inferior one), she became a flop. That's not a coincidence.
The ignorance of Madonna stans here you can tell they don't know **** about pop culture and just run along claiming everything because of the "queen of pop" title, I'm glad some things are only kept on ATRL

The ignorance is a Janet fan making this thread at all. The delusion too
Oh but they haven't. Let me guess, those are mediatraffic receipts?
Nope. Reliable numbers from UK Mix
I mean it makes sense. Her sells in the US are definitely STRONG--prob stronger than Madonna's. But they're legit DWARFED by her international sells. She didn't have pull anywhere outside the US besides Japan maybe, and even that's a stretch. Her best selling album in the UK is double platinum like gaaaawd
She released 3 albums (including GH) in the 90's. Obviously her total sales will be behind her peers who released albums like a fast food company. Her touring numbers were enough to make up for it
