And Gaga has not "matched" Rihanna's albums sales in less time considering she hasn't passed 30M yet. She also has a fraction of the singles sales, and her streaming numbers are pitiful, compared to all of her peers. Rihanna is also more acclaimed, more awarded, and a bigger ICON. Try again.

Nah, The Fame sparked the biggest rise to pop stardom, holds some of the biggest digital hits in history (two solo, 7x platinum singles and solo diamond singles, does Rihanna?), gave us some of the most iconic visuals and impacted on all the pop girls even Rihanna and it only took Gaga one release to get there not three like others. Gaga is close WW and they're both in the 10M~ range in US. Again three full pop records VS seven pop records. Which is more impressive? And Rihanna, acclaimed? LMAO. Gaga had a performance this year more acclaimed than Rihanna's existence, all thanks to vocals alone something Rihanna can never claim. Rihanna is more known for who's dick she's sucking, getting beat up and what hair colour she has each day than the soulless music Jay Z throw money at to get countless writing camps to come up with material for her while she has no artist input or involvement and instead skips studio sessions to go partying and snort cocaine off her bouncer's head. Gaga has won more VMAs, EMAs, BRITs, awards for her songwriting, awards for her philanthropy, awarded fashion icon before Rihanna, has more icon awards in general and more solo Grammys for music she actually contributed to making, is currently poised to get an Oscar and Golden Globe for her acting, both being something that seems as unlikely for RiRi as her hitting a note live or releasing Anti. Try AGAIN.

And that's how you know you've lost this argument. Resulting to attacks when you don't have the stats to back up anything you've said (relying only on your opinion as fact). Disgusting.

Nah Gaga's Oscar performance was bigger than Rihanna's 1989 Vacations tour

No. Only Taylor was the other reasonable candidate since Hurricane Adele took place after they picked the WOTY.

Unfortunately being Dior first Black spokeswoman isn't enough (no matter how huge it is), so are selling socks and shoes. So no, next year maybe with the album out and the movie Valerian

Gaga literally re-invented her career this year.
- More than ever, she focused on sensible topics, sparked discussions and grabbed attention every time she did it.
- Her Yale speech went viral with almost 20M views in a few days on Facebook, she initiated a partnership between her foundation and Elton John's AIDS Foundation.
- She raised awareness about sexual assault in campuses with her much talked Till It Happens To You, which is a critic favorite and is on course to earn her some solid nominations at the world's most prestigious awards.
- She literally stole the show at this year's Oscars with her best vocal performance yet, sparking millions of topics the following days.
- She also won 3 really important awards: her 6th Grammy, the Contemporary Icon Award and perhaps the most important one: The Young Artist award at the NATIONAL ARTS Awards.
And then...
You're here talking about the holiday socks your fave has released?

Rihanna is the example of who should NOT be named WOTY
The delusion Gaga got more recognition for the Oscars than Rihanna has gotten for ANYTHING her entire career.

So Rihanna released 3 underperforming singles that she didn't even write and for that reason ALONE she deserves to be WOTY ?

I post on a damn pop forum and all I could tell you about Rihanna this year is that she had a few under-performing singles and her album was pushed back.
What do you genuinely think the average person even noticed considering they don't see fans posting threads about her?
