It is because it is harder for big vocalist to be popular in the music scene right now compared to 10 or 20 years ago
thank you 30 years ago you had to have talent to be successful now the only thing you gotta do is get some good producers, sing about sex, use a generic dance beat and youve got 12 number 1's (no shade).
I love JoJo and she's one of my favorite artist (musically) but I'm not impressed. Her runs are clearly inspired by Christina who doesn't sing properly to begin with.
The Xtina comparisons with JoJo are annoying IMO - the only similarities they have are that they are white gurlz with RnB voices. Christina has a much more powerful voice whereas Jo's is lighter, deeper and more versatile with better technique. Christina's runs come from her jaw whereas Jo's are (as they should be) from her chest.
Particularly nowadays, I'd say that Jo is closer to Brandy in the way her runs are so connected and intricate. But she also has a belting/head voice/whistle range that Brandy doesn't have.
Vocal Negatives: The higher, coarser chest notes- above a C5- tends to be forced, pulled and unhealthy. Though it should be noted many fans site the sound produced as a plus to her voice, despite it being achieved via questionable vocal means. And so will most of the world, but it doesn't make it true. A singer who doesn't sing right isn't a good singer. i don't think it's too hard to understand. All her talent is because she was born with the right genetics, it has nothing to do with her skill. She has poor technique/skill as a vocalist and has never shown any interest in getting better.
